There was a time I would have painstakingly cleaned up a tree like this by manual labor. Now we do things a little more efficiently. Here we are utilizing a controlled speed line to cleanup this blown over tree out of an inaccessible back yard.

We utilized the skid steer and some clever rigging to clean up the drainage from this spring. Keep an eye out for our work on Magnetic Springs Road in Eureka. The spring looks pristine without all the dead fall accumulation!

Removing and pruning trees to create landscape views can be very appealing to property owners and very lucrative for unscrupulous tree service companies. It's very common for water-adjacent property owners to ask us to clear cut a hillside to accommodate a view to the water from their house. From the limited perspective of the back porch, it usually looks like only a few small trees are hindering the view to the water. The typical reality is that many large mature trees are standing between the back porch grill and the million dollar lake view that the realtor promised.

A far better long term option than clear cutting a view is to cultivate and protect the large, mature, and desirable trees already existing on the property. Eventually, these trees can pay huge dividends and a view can still be achieved by incorporating the trees. Below is an example of a view we helped create in Holiday Island. We removed the under story growth and deadwood from existing mature trees while still attempting to maintain their long term health and structure. The result is a narrow, but spectacular, view of Indian Hills in Holiday Island.

I've always enjoyed splitting wood by hand, but my interest in firewood isn't commercial. There's something very personal to me about processing the wood that is meant to heat my home. This desire to personally process my own wood was driven home very quickly this week!

To those who've bought inferior firewood from disreputable sellers, don't look for miracles on Facebook. The truth is that quality firewood requires love, care, preparation, and extreme labor.

I wish there was an easy solution to provide folks with quality and affordable firewood, but some problems are best solved with a splitting maul and some good dogs watching your progress.

About 5 years ago, we installed this bat house on a hackberry spar for a customer. Today we came back and removed all of the sucker growth that had sprouted out since the installation. We don't ordinarily top trees like this, but bats are cool and mosquitoes are annoying.

Creating a page for Hunnicutt Tree Care has been long overdue. I'm not very 'social media' savvy, but I feel that our friends, family, and patrons deserve an inside look at what we get up to everyday. I've been fortunate to cultivate a business based around reputation and referrals; this would not have been possible without a few key mentors and team members. Speaking of the team, here's Tate and Aaron working side by side to dismantle this twin trunk sycamore earlier today.
