As the bitter cold from this winter storm comes to an end, so do the motel rooms that provided temporary safety.
As individuals transitioned out of the motels, we worked to make sure no one left empty-handed. Every person we sponsored was provided with supplies to help them continue facing the winter conditions, including sleeping bags, wool socks, and mittens donated by Project Winter Watch, tents donated by :6 ministries , tarps donated by DaveandDesiree Burrow, and winter beanies, extra socks, and hand warmers donated by our incredible community. We truly could not have done this without each of you. Your generosity made a life-saving difference.
After the storm, Grounds 4 Compassion will be partnering with Jodi Berge with On Bended Knee to continue walking alongside some of our most vulnerable neighbors.
During the storm, we identified two vulnerable elderly men — one who has experienced sudden blindness, and another who is almost completely deaf and unable to read. These challenges make them extremely vulnerable and require additional support as they work toward a safe and stable future.
We also met a young man who is seeking to turn his life around. We believe in meeting people where they are and helping them build a foundation that leads toward healing, stability, and the purpose God has placed on their lives.
Together, we are continuing to support these three men with motel stays while helping them secure identification, medical care, and the resources needed to help them stand on their own feet again. They are taking important steps toward stability, including working toward housing and employment for the younger man.
To help them move forward, they are currently in need of:
🫕 Basic cookware
🥫 Groceries
(We need soft easy to eat foods for our blind gentleman, he can do frozen dinners easily)
🧼 Hygiene items
If you are able to donate any of these items, please bring them to:
