Three things to keep in mind when purchasing a firearm for self-defense.
1: Reliability; Your firearm must be able to function above all else. It should be maintained and properly lubricated and use only proven quality ammunition. Your ammunition should also be test fired to ensure that the firearm works correctly with your selected type and brand of ammunition.
2: Accurate; Your firearm should be of a quality build that ensures inherent mechanical accuracy throughout its life span. The mechanical design of the action, the type of sights, and quality ammunition all function in a symbiotic relationship which when applied should deliver consistent, repeatable, and accurate shot placement.
3: Durability; The firearm you select should have a proven history. Either by its design, or by its manufacture, it should be able to withstand the rigors of time and use. Just because a firearm is new on the market, and has become the “latest and greatest” doesn’t mean it is actually a durable and/or reliable firearm. Is the design of the gun proven? Is it built from quality materials? Does the manufacturer have a known history or reputation, do they offer a warranty? How long has the manufacturer been in the fi****ms industry? Does the manufacturer have a record of military or government sales? A little research goes a long way in selecting a quality firearm which may be called upon you save your, or a loved one’s life. Never rush a purchase, especially over price. What you save initially may cost more than money in the long run.
Last point to consider, ammunition. If you expect your firearm to be reliable and function… Please feed it a quality ammunition. Range ammo for target practice can be cheap, and of lessor quality. This is fine on the range, you gain practice clearing jams, or solving other issues which may occur from “range ammo”.
Remember, to use only the best ammunition possible when using it to protect your assets! Test your “carry ammunition”, make sure it feeds, functions, and goes bang every time. If the ammo fails, so does your firearm!
Now that you have a Reliable, Accurate, Durable firearm, loaded with the best ammunition available… Please remember… Be Safe, Know the Laws, and stay alert… Get Proper training… And…
Be careful Out There!
