Tempered glass (“safety glass”) resists impact on the surface, but the edge is very susceptible. The glass is designed (by heat treatment) to shatter into tiny pieces so as to avoid large jagged pieces that could cut or slice someone.
In regard to stained glass, we use it to encapsulate stained glass panels for insulated units.
