West Hardin Fire and Rescue is seeking recommendations for a reputable and experienced transportation provider to transport an F-450 Mini-Pumper fire apparatus from:

The transportation provider must be properly licensed and insured and meet all applicable DOT and motor carrier requirements for transporting the vehicle.

We are looking for a dependable provider experienced in transporting commercial vehicles, fire apparatus, or similar equipment.

Today, West Hardin Fire & Rescue honored the life and legacy of Larry Ray, a man who dedicated 33 years of service to the West 84 Fire Department and to the community he proudly served.

Larry was more than a firefighter. He was one of the people who helped lay the foundation of the department. He gave his time, his hard work, and his dedication to helping others, often without seeking recognition or praise.

Over the years, West 84 Fire Department grew and changed. Eventually, West 84 and White Mills Fire Departments came together to form what is now West Hardin Fire & Rescue. While the name and organization may have changed, the history and legacy of the men and women who built those departments remain a part of us.

Larry is a part of that history.

For 33 years, he answered the call when his community needed him. He helped build West 84 Fire Department and left behind a legacy that continues through the department today. Every call we answer, every person we help, and every firefighter who puts on the gear is connected in some way to those who came before us and helped build this department.

Larry also spent 53 years as a truck driver, a testament to the hard-working, dependable man he was throughout his life. His dedication to his work, his family, his community, and his fellow firefighters is something that will not be forgotten.

Today, we remember not only the firefighter Larry was, but the person he was to his family, his friends, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout his 75 years.

To Larry’s family, please know that his service and sacrifice mattered. The department he helped build still stands, and his name will forever be a part of its story.

33 years of service.
53 years of hard work.
75 years of a life well lived.
A legacy that will never be forgotten.

We are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside his family during this difficult time and to pay tribute to one of the men who helped build the foundation of the fire service we proudly continue today.

This family-friendly event is a great opportunity for children and adults alike to get an up-close look at a variety of vehicles and equipment from throughout our community. Whether it's emergency vehicles, farm equipment, construction machinery, classic trucks, or other unique equipment, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

We're looking for additional vehicles and equipment to display! 📢 Auto Extrication Class Postponed

West Hardin Fire and Rescue would like to inform everyone that our Auto Extrication Class, originally scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2026, has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

We appreciate the tremendous interest and support shown by firefighters, EMS personnel, and departments from across the region. While we regret any inconvenience this may cause, postponing the class will allow us to ensure participants receive the highest quality training experience possible.

A new date is currently being coordinated and will be announced as soon as it is finalized.

Please continue to follow the West Hardin Fire and Rescue page and other social media channels for updates and the announcement of the rescheduled training date.

Today, we proudly celebrate 250 years of America!
Honoring the courage, sacrifice, and determination that began in 1776 and continues today.

As we gather with family and friends to celebrate our nation's independence, we also remember those who have worn the uniform before us, those who serve today, and the generations who will answer the call tomorrow.

From all of us at West Hardin Fire Rescue, we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July. If you're celebrating with fireworks, please do so responsibly, keep a water source nearby, and never leave fireworks unattended.

Thank you to our firefighters, first responders, military members, veterans, and the citizens we are honored to serve every day.

From the bottom of our hearts, West Hardin Fire and Rescue would like to thank everyone across our district for helping make this year's Crusade for Children campaign a tremendous success.

Because of the generosity, kindness, and unwavering support of our community, we were able to raise $10,512.27. Every person who stopped at a roadblock, attended an event, made a donation, shared a post, or offered words of encouragement played a part in this accomplishment.

As firefighters, we are fortunate to serve a community that continually demonstrates what it means to care for others. Time and time again, our residents step forward to support causes that make a difference, and this year was no exception.

We are humbled by the support shown throughout our Crusade activities and grateful for the trust and generosity you have extended to our department. The success of this campaign is not ours alone—it belongs to every member of this community who chose to give, support, and stand beside us.

We truly are blessed to serve such an amazing community, and we cannot thank you enough for helping make this year's Crusade for Children one of our most successful efforts to date.
