One of my favorite parts of spending time in Phoenix has been meeting people who are rethinking the way things have always been done.
I recently got to spend some time with Angela Johnson, of FABRIC in Tempe, and there is so much alignment in the work weโre doing.
FABRIC is a nonprofit fashion incubator helping apparel entrepreneurs take an idea from concept to production, with the tools, education, resources and support to manufacture in smaller batches, right here in the U.S.
Different sides of the fashion industry, but a very similar belief: there has to be a better way.
A way that creates less waste.
A way that makes fashion more accessible.
A way that gives smaller businesses a real opportunity to participate.
And a way that challenges an industry that desperately needs some new ideas.
Angela has spent years helping build that kind of fashion ecosystem here in Arizona, and I loved getting to learn more about what she and the team at FABRIC are creating.
If youโre building an apparel brand, especially if youโre trying to figure out how to actually take an idea and get it made, you should absolutely know about them. She has loads of upcyclers using her roadmap and we will absolutely be joining them!!! Switch Society Circular Wardrobe has big upcycling goals!
