Time for me to present another piano performance; Saturday February 17th 2PM at Billings First United Methodist Church, 2800 4th Ave N in Downtown Billings. It will be a mix of various composers including Chopin, Schumann, Debussy, Scarlatti, Schubert, and some surprises including at least one vocal duet with Joey Joseph. Admission is free and there will be a reception afterward at Canyon Creek Brewing (kid friendly and non-alcoholic beverages available), 3060 Gabel Rd, Billings 59102. Hope to see you there!

The July 4th fireworks from my front yard. With all the turmoil and censorship of late, it was a great reminder of the original 56 who stood up to tyranny and created and signed the original Declaration of Independence on August 2nd, 1776. Hundreds or maybe thousands lined our streets here to enjoy the show, and because our freedoms seem to be under extreme assault, perhaps this was a 'teachable moment' for many of us to wake up.

Josh Charette, Eve & I traveled to Winston-Salem, NC with Alex Charette and Azael Widdicombe, who competed in the USA Judo Junior Olympics. It was a tough competition and Azael & Alex fought hard against opponents who were vying for a spot on our Junior World Team or some who already had secured a spot on our Cadet Junior World Team. Both had very large divisions and Alex was able to come away with a 4th place finish in the National 73K IJF Junior World Team battle on Saturday the 19th, and secured a Bronze medal in the 73K IJF International competition on Sunday the 20th. Both did a great job on the mat, led by Coach Josh, who gave them direction mat side. Eve volunteered for various duties, including helping with the hourly mat cleaning at he venue. Dave served as the tournament announcer and emcee and had the privilege of introducing (and posing) with our 2021 USA Judo Junior World Team. While in Winston-Salem, our MAAB group took time to test various local foods, found a great outdoor live music venue and even took in a pro baseball game between Greensboro and Winston-Salem. Various photos are posted of the covid check-in process, referee and coaches meetings, Jimmy Pedro, Keith Bryant, Patrick & Alan Lo, Hector Estevez, Joon Chi, B. Moshpat, Dr. Gary Berliner, Russ Scherer, Vaughn Anderson, Gerry Navarro, Joe Yungwirth, the venue at the Winston-Salem Fairground Annex and various stages of warm-ups and the competition. Congratulations to all the competitors!
