***Important Medicare Update: GLP-1 Weight Loss Medications***
Beginning July 1, 2026, Medicare will expand access to certain FDA-approved GLP-1 weight loss medications through the new Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program.
Eligible beneficiaries who qualify may be able to obtain covered GLP-1 medications for a fixed copayment of $50 per month.
Currently included medications are:
- Wegovy
- Zepbound
To be eligible, beneficiaries must:
• Be enrolled in a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes prescription drug coverage
• Meet Medicare’s clinical criteria for obesity treatment
• Receive a prescription and prior authorization from their healthcare provider
This program is expected to run through December 31, 2027, and represents a significant step toward improving access to weight management medications for Medicare beneficiaries who qualify.
