Watercolor Womb Birth Services LLC

Watercolor Womb Birth Services LLC Full Spectrum Doula Services. Fertility, Birth/Labour, Postpartum and Bereavement. A mom of 5, birth and parenting are no stranger to me.

I felt my calling to be a Doula after having several traumatic birth experiences and knowing no birthing person should ever be where I was. No support, uninformed, scared and just lost and at the mercy of people to whom I was just a number. So I started training and educating myself on all things doula. To date I have been training and undergoing education for three years. You get 100% judgement f

ree support from me as your doula. I will support you no matter race, identity, orientation, religion, or social status. I firmly believe all people deserve support during this incredible journey.

"This photo was taken 24 hours after I gave birth to my second baby boy, Waylon. The guy on the left is my ex and the 3-year-old holding his hand is my first child, Cade, who we had together. The guy on the right holding my son’s right hand is my fiancé, and the newborn baby boy is our child. I just found that super adorable because they both have important roles in my son’s life. This photo captured all the love they have for my son. It was a really nice moment.

Just because a relationship doesn’t work out between two people DOES NOT mean the relationship with the child shouldn’t. I would never take that away. Every child needs a mother and father figure and my son Cade just happens to get some extra love.

It's possible to be civil and co-parent. If you made the child together it’s both of your job to raise the child.”

I do NOT like photos of me, I have huge body image issues. I was in my element this afternoon working in the garden and Brianna asked to take my pic. I said no at first and watched her face fall.

Guys...I told her yes and she lit up!

She doesn’t see the postpartum rolls, the double chin, the swelling...she sees her mama working in the garden. She was so happy to take these then went around and took pics all over the garden.

I said all this to say- let them take the pic ❤️❤️

Posted • ✳️Wait for White✳️

✂ Many people include "Delayed Cord Clamping" in their birth plan, but what they don't realise is that in a hospital setting, this means about 2/3 mins.

🩸Like adults, all babies are different and the time it takes for ALL of the babies blood to transfer will vary from baby to baby. This is why, if you can, it is best to "Wait for White" before clamping and cutting the umbilical cord. The pictures above speak for themselves 🙂
📸

⏳If this isn't possible for any reason then it is a good idea to ask your midwife or consultant to wait for at least 2 mins. Most trusts should be able to facilitate this even in a caesarean birth scenario.

🚑Did you know that immediately after birth, up to 30% of your babies' blood is still travelling along the umbilical cord? That's loads! If any adult lost 30% of their blood, medics would be rushing us in for an emergency blood transfusion!
So why is it that no one even blinks when it happens to a baby?

🧬Benefits of waiting for white:
🔸Baby receives 100% of its blood
🔸Optimal iron levels
🔸Optimal red & white blood cells
🔸Optimal antibodies
🔸Optimal stem cells

❤️You've waited such a long time for your baby, so what's another few.

Posted Do you know the benefits of optimising cord clamping at birth??

Optimised cord clamping is specific to each baby. It is dependent on their birth circumstances and that of mum too. So this is not an exact number.

But in an ideal world ‘OPTIMAL’ is “waiting for white”. This means we leave the cord as long as it takes for all the blood to empty, it will no longer be pulsing and the cord appears white.

But why do we do this? Well, take a look:

🩸 The placenta and cord is all part of your baby’s circulatory system, early clamping and cutting deprives your baby of nearly a third (30%) of their blood volume and this can be as high has half (50%) in preemies. It’s their blood. They should have it.

🩸By optimising cord clamping we allow baby to receive upwards of a million stem cells. Stem cells are pretty special in that they can turn in to any cell required by the body. Why bank them when baby can have them at birth?

🩸 Early cord clamping is linked to iron deficiency anaemia. It affects over 40% of the worlds children. It impacts their learning and neurological development.

🩸Research tells us if you have a pre or compromised baby then they would hugely benefit from optimising cord clamping (given the reasons here it’s easy to see why).

🩸Early cord clamping reduces your baby’s white blood cells by about 30%. We use white blood cells to fight infection! Very important for a newborn.

🩸There is NO evidence supporting early cord clamping. Which suggests it’s done for practitioner convenience over benefits to mum and baby.

So when thinking about your preference for birth have a think about how many benefits we can give our babies just by asking for delayed cord clamping optimal for you and your baby!
