We are excited to announce our new president, Madeleine Pels!

Maddie is a second year grad student with research interests surrounding near surface and environmental geophysics. She plans to continue to a PhD in computation geophysics after her master’s program. She obtained her BSc from Virginia Polytechnic State University.

Next Thursday we’re watching Unconformity, a new movie about a geology student who goes on a career-defining trip to the Nevada desert.

This movie was described in the last GSA (Geological Society of America) meeting as an impactful representation of an overall underrepresent field and of the reality and struggles that grad students face in academia.
