The major operations publicly identified for Coast Guard Training Center Birmingham-Southern are not basic training at this point. The Coast Guard says Cape May remains the birthplace of the enlisted corps, and enlisted accession/basic training will continue at Training Center Cape May. Officer accession training also remains at the Coast Guard Academy. (MyCG)
The Birmingham-Southern facility is being positioned as a training-capacity expansion campus and a leadership / advanced training hub.
