Birmingham's founders don't lack talent. They lack systems.

That's the headline from the Ideas to Impact Report. analyzed the real conversations from Ideas to Impact Week and found five structural barriers holding creative businesses back:

1. Infrastructure is hard to reach. Fashion and food founders stay stuck in small batches because the pipelines to scale don't exist here.
2. Capital is risk-averse. Mission-driven ventures go unfunded because local money prizes conventional returns over long-term impact.
3. Legal readiness is weak. Strong brands launch on fragile foundations, with IP, contracts, and structure skipped until it costs something.
4. Nonprofits are undervalued. Treated as charity, not strategy, and left out of the conversations they help drive.
5. Founders hustle without systems. Tax planning, business credit, entity structure, exit paths. Grit fills the gap until it burns out.
