📚 The BBA’s Q3 Luncheon: The State of Education in Central Alabama was one for the books!

We brought together education leaders, business voices and community partners for an important conversation about the challenges and opportunities shaping education across our region — and, ultimately, the future of our workforce.

This summer, the BBA and Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed 154 young professionals from 81 colleges and universities and 93 employers to experience Greater Birmingham beyond their workplace through the summer internship program.

Through networking, professional development, community service and several classic Birmingham experiences, FuelAL gave young talent a reason to see our region not just as a summer stop—but as a place to build a career and a life.

A thought-provoking new piece from Jefferson County Commission Economic Development Advisor, Jefferson Traywick looks at some of Alabama’s biggest economic development wins—from Mercedes-Benz and Airbus to Barber Motorsports Park, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Railroad Park and Regions Field—and the skepticism many faced along the way.

The takeaway isn’t that every project should be an automatic “yes.” It’s that communities must weigh the risks of moving forward alongside the risks of standing still.
