I'm planning to start another "Speechcraft" this summer, so be on the lookout for this extra opportunity to meet. Speechcraft is like your level 1 in Pathways - it goes over the fundamentals of public speaking in an easy to follow curriculum. Speechcraft takes you out of our regular meeting room to other locations in Birmingham, and our spring Speechcraft took place at the Good People Brewing Company in downtown Birmingham.

We need a Toastmasters for the next meeting! This is a fun role where you "lead" the speaking portion of our meeting. You will introduce the listening roles, the speakers, the table topics master, and then give your thoughts on the meeting before turning it over to the General Evaluator. The Toastmaster is able have their own "style" for each meeting and often goes off script. This is a great video of what to do for this role and some tips to get you ready for it.

Happy Monday Toastmasters! I want to share another speech from one of our semi-finalists in the 2025 International Speech Contest. Our International Speech Contest is "the big one" that we have every year for the best speakers in the Toastmaster's Global Community. This is one of the biggest reasons I love this club - we have colleagues from around the world. You can see some great body language, vocal variety, audience awareness in this speech. It is also a story, which is one of the best ways to connect with any audience.

The "Grammarian" role can seem like one of the most daunting at a Toastmasters club meeting, but don't fret! This listening role gives you the opportunity to help speakers improve with certain words, phrases, and delivery styles. We aren't asking you to be an English teacher with a red pen, but a strong listener who can help others grow!

The Grammarian also has a speaking role in each meeting. A lot of members have unique stories with their role, and we are thankful for Sanibona for sharing hers!

We were happy to see some new faces last night! We had a good mix of members and visitors, and Peggy gave a great speech about the leadership opportunities offered through Toastmaster's membership.

The new Toastmasters year starts in July and we are having elections in June. We have 7 officers each year in our club, and if you have ever wanted an opportunity to lead in a fun, supportive environment, we invite you to join our next meeting!

We are excited to see everyone again today at 5:30 PM! Toastmasters at UAB is a fun public speaking club that can help individuals prepare, practice, and deliver powerful speeches.

We are gearing up for our next meeting on Tuesday, May 26th!

Our club will have regular meetings during the summer. We encourage you to take advantage of the sunny season and brush up on your public speaking. Toastmasters is a globally renown public speaking club that can help you take those communication skills to the next level.

We meet at the UAB Bevill Biomedical Research Building, Room 170, every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 5:30 PM.
