The "Ah Counter" is one of the most important roles at a Toastmaster's meeting. This person listens for your typical filler words - ah, um, so, well, and many more! Many of our newer members learn very quickly how often they use these words while speaking!

This is a good listening role that can prepare you for listening AND speaking, as you'll listen to grammar usage, good phrases, and little tweaks that speakers might consider making. It works as a speaking opportunity because you'll be able to deliver your report at the end of the meeting. You also come up with the word of the day - you choose the word you like and challenge each member to use it throughout the meeting.

The "Ice Breaker" speech is just that, breaking the ice! This is the first speech you will give in your Toastmaster's journey. It is a 4 to 6 minute speech on the topic of your choice, but most people choose to introduce themselves to their club. We have 3 Ice Breakers planned for our meeting tomorrow, and we are excited to get to know some of our newer members!

We meet at the UAB Bevill Biomedical Research Building, Room 170, at 5:30 PM on Tuesday August 25th. You will see a sign on the door to knock and we will let you right in! Visitors are always welcome to join us for FREE.

We are excited to meet again this week! This meeting is very unique as we have 3 speakers giving their "Ice Breaker," which is the first speech you will give at Toastmasters. The Ice Breaker is a 4 to 6 minute speech where speakers will introduce themselves, and we are looking forward to getting to know our new members.

We meet at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, August 25th, at the UAB Bevill Biomedical Research Building in Room 170. You'll see a sign on the door to knock, we'll let you in!
