Is Jelly Roll done? That is up to Jelly Roll. Music is one thing. People fall in love with artists initially because their music moves them.. Then people want to know more about their favorite.artists to be close to them and connect even more. What fans find out at this stage is what makes or breaks the artists.
People feel (whether true or not) that Jelly Roll was not real. He was a novelty act that needed his rough exterior and stories of hard times to justify his songs, look, image and marketing.
Country fans are smarter than that. They will like you for saying Jesus in a song or two but when your life shows something different they will drop you like a hot rock and accept rumors with credibility. Whether all you are and do is determined in a board room or by your individual choices....it is still on his shoulders to be real or not.
Does he make a comeback? In my opinion yes..he can, but it is going to take his moving on from using his past issues, hard ships and image. He says he is a changed man, then show it. Show it in how you dress, how you sing, your image and your behavior. Create music that sells itself and brings you along for the ride. As I tell our artists, give fans a reason to listen to you...and they will.
We know you had a hard time...now, if it is in you, show us a new Jelly Roll. We might just like it. You gave us someone we can sympathize with, now give us.someone that can Inspire us.
