Dolly Parton's departure from our world today has made me completely sad. She was incredibly talented, and a caring person at the same time, who made difference to so many people. I had the good fortune to meet and photograph Dolly Parton, at Dollywood, on assignment for Southern Living magazine, about 2005. Here are my two favorite photos -- one during her Christmas - Holiday concert and then back stage in her rehearsal room. When she told me to sit beside her for a photograph, I was absolutely tongue-tied-shy, and could barely eke out a thank you.

Photographing the rusting behemoths of Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark was an all-day photo shoot for Robert Cox, Kristin King, and Ann M. Williams at my Light & Metals photography workshop recently.

A meteor from 80 million years ago, slamming into Wetumpka, AL, is old news, but you can still see some the geographical effects today. Look at the angles of the boulders in the Coosa River in town, and stop by the Wetumpka Impact Crater Discovery & Visitors Center for a driving map of the crater.
