What to Expect During a Fitting

"On the Ground" Portion
🐴 This includes a head palpation of your horse, an oral exam and a bridle fitting for up to 2 bridles! This part of the fitting gives me information on if your horse has any pain points and the anatomy of their mouth to find the best bit for them and you!

The Riding Portion
🐴 This is the fun part - you and your horse can try up to 5 different bits. This isn't a normal ride though. There's some stopping and starting so we can swap to alternatives if needed. This gives you a chance to feel the difference in your horse going from one bit to another.

After a long social media break... I'm back!!

For everyone new here or if you genuinely forgot, I'm Laura! I'm an independent, LANTRA certified bit & bridle fitter. That means I work with multiple brands to find the best fit and setup for your horse.

🐴 I have 4 horses of my own: Tio, Cappy, Nick and River

🐴 I reside in Birmingham, AL but will travel all over the southeast and offer my services at many horse shows in the area

Just your regular reminder to check your mouthpieces! This is especially important for bits that are rubber, plastic and polymer!

What to look for:
❣️Sharp edges - this can create ulcers and cuts in your horses mouth. If your bit has any kind of chew marks, it's time to replace it.

❣️ Uneven wear - always look at the joints to make sure they are in good shape and not thinning out. Uneven wear can also happen where the cheekpiece and mouthpiece intersect.

Not sure if the wear and tear on your bit is worthy of being replaced? Send me a picture and I'll tell you what I think!
