Eight years ago, Dream Flavors was a small trailer serving shaved ice, snowballs, popsicles, and ice cream on the streets of Birmingham. Today, the sign is officially on the door β€” co-owners Walter and LaShunda Baldwin have opened their first brick-and-mortar location.

As part of BBRC’s campaign, we’re sharing their story β€” a journey from a trailer, to a converted school bus, to a van, and now to a storefront of their own. In Walter’s own words, here’s how Dream Flavors got there: https://mybbrc.biz/the-sign-on-the-door-walter-baldwin-dream-flavors/

Some businesses lean on BBRC once, at a single turning point.

Tanesha Sims-Summers and her husband Clem Summers trusted BBRC for support again and again β€” through an accelerator early in the journey, a stabilizing loan during COVID, a national showcase with Square, and support through a recent equipment crisis with their food truck, Miss Poppy.

Nine years in, Tanesha credits that ongoing relationship with helping their business Naughty But Nice Kettle Corn Co. grow with clarity and confidence at every stage. Here’s her story:

The U.S. Small Business Administration just announced a new 90% loan guarantee for businesses across the energy production supply chain β€” oil and gas, mining, drilling support, and more β€” through its International Trade Loan Program. That's a significant jump from the standard 75% guarantee, giving lenders even more incentive to fund growth in this space.

At BBRC, we help you get loan-ready. And when it's time to talk financing β€” especially SBA lending β€” our sister organization, Birmingham City Wide, is here to help you navigate your options and find the right path forward.
