This is what was hiding inside a front-load washer's door seal. 😬

From the outside, this washer looked fine. But once we pulled back the rubber door boot, we found mold, mildew and thick soap sludge packed into every fold. All of it was sitting right next to "clean" clothes, every load.

If your washer smells musty, or your towels come out smelling worse than they went in, this is usually why.

How to keep it from happening to yours:
✅ Leave the door cracked open between loads so the seal can dry
✅ Wipe out the folds of the gasket once a week
✅ Use HE detergent, and less than you think you need
✅ Run a monthly cleaning cycle (hot water + washer cleaner)
✅ Pull wet clothes out right away

Once the buildup gets this bad, cleaning usually won't fix it. The boot has to be replaced, and you'll want the drain pump and filter checked while you're at it.

Yesterday's job was a good reminder of why it pays to have a pro in your corner — even for a "simple" install.

We showed up to install a brand new dishwasher for a customer #, fresh out of the box from a big box retailer. Before we ever hooked it up, we gave it a full inspection like we always do... and found clear signs the unit had been dropped in transit or handling.
