Barbara Burton created Chalker Group in 2013 to offer an effective recruiting solution for healthcare and academic organizations attracting top professionals and their spouses/partners from across the globe to the Birmingham-metro area. We had the best time at the Rotary Panel event, hearing from our Co-owners Jen and Walton, with the conversation thoughtfully moderated by Barbara Burton, as they shared what it’s really like recruiting to Birmingham and building meaningful community here.

It was especially impactful to hear from Dr. Tom Chi and his wife, Judith, who spoke about their move from California to Birmingham and how welcomed they felt from the very beginning, both by the Chalker Group and the city itself. They described experiencing a level of “unreasonable hospitality” that made Birmingham feel like a warm hug from day one.

That sense of genuine connection and care ultimately played a major role in their decision to call this city home. Today, they’ve fully embraced Birmingham and all it has to offer, and it shows.

We are proud to recognize Chalker Group member Sheetal Cordry, who serves as President of The Service Guild, for leading an exceptional gala in support of The Bell Center in Homewood. The event was a beautiful reflection of the organization’s mission and the strong sense of community that continues to define Birmingham.

Through the generosity and engagement of attendees, the evening was a tremendous success, raising $570,000 to benefit The Bell Center for Early Intervention Programs and its impactful work serving children and families. The level of support shown is a testament to the meaningful difference this organization makes and the dedication of those who champion its cause.

We are honored to have leaders like Sheetal within our network, whose commitment to service and community continues to inspire.

Meet Britt 🤍

A dedicated community leader and mother of four, Britt is passionate about helping families feel connected and at home in Birmingham. She has a deep understanding of the area’s outstanding public school systems and the many resources available to families throughout the community.

Britt has generously given her time and leadership to a variety of local organizations, including serving in key roles with the Mountain Brook PTO, the Mountain Brook Schools Foundation, the Board of the Birmingham Zoo, and her church community. She is also deeply committed to supporting the missions of the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society.

Through both her professional and personal involvement, Britt is devoted to strengthening the Birmingham community and helping others feel a sense of belonging 🤍

As Director of Operations, Aimee is at the heart of everything we do at Chalker Group. She plays a key role in keeping our team and processes running smoothly, bringing a strong focus on organization, communication, and project management.

Aimee serves as the primary point of contact for clients and oversees the intake of all new recruitments, ensuring each transition into Birmingham is seamless and well-supported. With over 25 years of experience in marketing and client relations, she brings both expertise and steadiness to every aspect of her work.
Outside of the office, Aimee enjoys winding down with a good TV show, as well as staying active through walking, hiking, and playing pickleball 🤍

An integral member of the Chalker team, Alexa is dedicated to helping recruits and their families feel welcomed and at home in Birmingham. With a background in theater, she brings a unique perspective to her work and especially enjoys highlighting the city’s rich and growing performing arts community.

Originally from Pensacola, Florida, Alexa and her husband, Mel, have called Birmingham home since 2004, where they are raising their three children. Her personal experience as a longtime resident allows her to share meaningful insight into what makes Birmingham such a special place to live, work, and raise a family.

Outside of her professional role, Alexa enjoys exploring Birmingham’s landmarks and attractions with her family, including visits to Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark and trips to the top of Vulcan, both of which reflect her appreciation for the city’s history and character.

A native of Pennsylvania, Ann understands what it takes to make a new city feel like home. She has proudly called Huntsville home for the past 14 years and continues to grow her deep connection to the community she loves.

Endlessly curious and a natural connector, Ann is always seeking to learn more about her city while building meaningful relationships and expanding her network. She is a graduate of Momentum Huntsville and the City of Huntsville Civic Engagement Academy, further demonstrating her commitment to civic engagement and community involvement.

With over 12 years of experience in the healthcare sector and more than 25 years of leadership and management experience across multiple industries, Ann brings a wealth of knowledge, professionalism, and dedication to everything she does. She is especially passionate about her nonprofit work, including her involvement with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, where she helps provide beds for children in need.

Outside of her professional and community work, Ann continues to be a strong advocate for connection, service, and making a lasting impact in Huntsville. We’re grateful for the expertise, heart, and passion she brings to everything she does. 🤍
