If you know me personally, you know I live and breathe old tractors. I spend a lot of my time repairing, restoring, and working on vintage equipment.

One of the most common phone calls I get goes something like this:

"My tractor is low on power, acts like it's running out of fuel, and I think the carburetor needs to be rebuilt."

The first question I always ask is:

"Are you running an inline fuel filter?"

You'd be surprised how often that's the culprit.

Many older tractors were never designed to use modern inline fuel filters. Instead, they relied on a gravity-fed fuel system with a sediment bowl and internal screens to keep fuel clean. Installing the wrong inline filter can actually restrict fuel flow, causing symptoms like:
• Loss of power under load
• Engine sputtering or stalling
• Feeling like it's running out of gas
• Hard starting after running for a while

Before you spend time and money rebuilding a carburetor, it's worth taking a close look at your fuel system. In many cases, simply removing an incorrect inline fuel filter and making sure the original sediment bowl and screens are clean will solve the problem.

In the next post, I'll explain how the original fuel filtration system on vintage tractors works and why, in many cases, it's more effective than people realize.

I get a lot of customers asking about tire repairs — everything from lawn mower tires and ATV tires to trailers and passenger vehicles. One question I hear often is about products like Fix-a-Flat and Slime. While they can work in certain situations, I’ve never been a big fan because of the mess they can leave behind inside the tire and on the rim during repairs.

Recently, I came across a product called LiquiTube, and it offers a different approach for customers looking for added flat tire protection. Unlike many traditional sealants, LiquiTube is water-soluble, making cleanup much easier during future tire service or repairs.

LiquiTube is designed to help seal punctures, prevent air loss, and provide long-lasting tire protection for a wide range of equipment including lawn mowers, ATVs, trailers, golf carts, wheelbarrows, and more.

If you’re interested in learning more or seeing if LiquiTube would be a good fit for your equipment, feel free to reach out. Preventing downtime and keeping your equipment rolling is always the goal.
