New gear day at Rocky Broad Solar! 🔋⛰️

We just got our hands on the new OutBack Power EnergyCell 5 battery modules and paired them with our EG4 12000XP off-grid inverter to build out a stackable 48V lithium bank — and of course, we filmed the whole thing.

From unboxing to install to putting real load on the system, we wanted to show you exactly how this setup performs before we'd ever recommend it to a neighbor here in WNC. Storm season doesn't wait around, and having a battery bank you can actually trust to carry your home matters more out here in the mountains than just about anywhere.

New video is up! 🎥 Take a look at this new construction home install in Western NC — Aptos 460W monofacial panels on SnapNrack Ultra Rail with S-5! S-5-NH1.5 seam clamps (zero roof penetrations on that standing seam metal roof). We tied it all together with a Tigo rapid shutdown transmitter and TS4-A-F RSD modules, an Anker E10 battery system, and an Anker Power Dock smart panel for whole-home backup with smart energy management.

Whole-home backup, built to handle the long outages. 🔆

We just wrapped an install featuring an IronRidge XR1000 ground mount system with 550W bifacial panels, an EG4 GridBOSS, FlexBOSS21, and three 16kWh indoor battery units — 48kWh of storage total. The system also integrates with a whole-home generator, so if solar production ever can't keep pace during an extended outage, the generator automatically steps in to keep the batteries charged.
