Ballots dropped yesterday! Fill them out early and get them into an official ballot drop box.

I’m running to support Democrats, Independents and Republicans in Whatcom County.

We need more balanced leadership that will listen to different perspectives and work to build consensus among leadership to solve some of the most defining issues of our time like:

✅ The high cost of living.
✅ Unaffordable housing.
✅ Flooding, drought and water resource management.
✅ Under-funded public schools.
✅ Inadequate healthcare provider networks.
✅ Excessive taxes and regulation on businesses.
✅ Lack of living-wage careers in Whatcom County.

It’s time to change the status quo. I will address these interconnected issues to improve our quality of life in Whatcom County and create a more stable future for our children.

Strong public schools aren’t a talking point. I believe strong public schools are nonnegotiable for Whatcom County. Here’s why:

✏️ Equity. Public schools welcome every student, whatever their family’s income, background, or learning needs, and they’re built to serve kids with IEPs and special needs. 

✏️ Workforce readiness. A well-educated community means more good jobs, higher wages, and a stronger, more diverse regional economy.

✏️ Social & civic engagement. In our classrooms, kids learn to work as a team, respect different points of view, and take on the responsibilities that keep a community and a democracy strong.

✏️ Discovery & development. From languages to career and vocational tracks, sports, and leadership clubs, public schools give students opportunities to explore interests and find their path.

As a member of the Blaine School Board, I have worked to support students and the teachers who show up for them every day. I believe we need to fully fund education so our students have the resources they need to build a brighter future for themselves. 

Tonight I’ll be at the Fund Schools Now forum at Horizon Middle School from 6pm-7:30pm. I hope you’ll attend!

Ask almost anyone in Whatcom County about the cost of living and you’ll hear a familiar answer: “It is getting too expensive.”

Housing takes an increasingly large share of household income. Groceries, gas, utilities, healthcare and other basic expenses continue to strain family budgets. For renters trying to save, homeowners trying to keep up, seniors living on fixed incomes and young adults hoping to build a future here, affordability has become one of the defining challenges facing our community.

As your next Senator I will work for policies that support:

🏡 More homes, built responsibly: streamline permitting and grow where infrastructure can support it, while protecting farmland and water.�
💼 Better jobs: attract and keep employers offering living-wage careers.�
📊 Accountability first: make sure every tax dollar Olympia already collects is delivering results before asking families for more.

Whatcom County should be a place where people can afford to live, work, raise a family and retire. It’s time for change, let’s make it happen.

My daughter and I are helping with flood cleanup. I’m sharing because at the doors, I’m hearing very valid concerns and fears asking “What do we do if another flood happens this year?” At the same time, I’m reading reports of another Chinook die-off in the South Fork after another year of low stream flow and warm water that increases disease and parasites.

Water is a huge issue for our community and we must proactively address it to protect our future. Whatcom County needs water resource management solutions that protect our communities, farms and businesses from flooding and our salmon from drought.

As your next Senator, I will support policies and funding that help develop comprehensive water management solutions for our community.

Regular, commonsense Democrats recognize that the local Democratic Party is engaging in blatant lies, whisper campaigns, and are spreading misinformation against our conservative candidates.

Do not fall for the BS. Kudos to regular Democrats for seeing through these lying ads.

I’m tired of watching dark-money special interest groups try to divide our community with lies and attack ads. Don’t let outside special interests distract us from what matters. Our community deserves better than political games.
