Professional Scanning and Photo Restoration

Old photos are some of most precious things we have. Digitizing photos will make them available to a new generation. Backing pictures up in the event of a disaster, we all know this is a must. However, scanning is a time-intensive laborious, and quite-daunting chore. The usual solution, is no solution at all. The big services

are usually over-expensive, requiring you to ship precious pictures away, while processing them in a quickly-done low-quality way. Former Curator and current Historic Preservation Specialist Robert Killion, knows all about old photos, how best to preserve, and how best to digitally restore, it's quite literally his day job. You will get a level of expertise that other places simply cannot match, all at local competitive rates. Quality, Expertise, Local, with Pricing that can't be matched, talk to us about your project today. Let us safe-guard and preserve your Memories...

Old photo albums are often in bad shape and many are actually harming your pictures, but by far the most common item to be in such terrible shape and falling apart is a scrapbook. There are many problems with them, acidic paper, falling apart, newspapers slowly destroying itself and anything else it is touching, and glued in items to just name a few. Dealing with them is always a challenge. The item itself is a historic document and there is always a struggle between preserving it as is or saving the items themselves and destroying the scrapbook. Sometimes there is no choice as the pages are literally falling apart, or things are so glued on that to remove them will destroy them. Often the both may be true in one scrapbook. Or what do you do with albums or scrapbooks that you would like to share with multiple family members? Scanning the entire page of an album allows you to preserve the historical arrangement as well as save copies of individual items. This electronic copy can be shared or even have a hard copy made. If the scrapbook or album is to be taken apart the items can be stored archivally or even rehoused on archival pages recreating the album page for page with the original items. For albums that cannot be taken apart the pages can be placed in large sleeves to protect them after digitizing and the whole album saved in a new archival binder. Albums and scrapbooks that are in good shape can be digitized and then only carefully handled as the digital version can be utilized instead.

One of my favorite family photos that I have done. The train going through Lilly Illinois. Taken with the camera my grandfather carried through World War II. The original print was only 2x4 inches. I was able to fix the fading, crop the muddy foreground, sharpen it a bit and blow it up to a 8x10 that I have hanging on the wall.
