Salmon Ruins Museum Private tours to nearby areas. Ancestral Puebloans (Anasazi) occupied what is now known as Salmon Ruins from approximately 1088 to 1280 C.E.

Prehistoric Chacoan Outlier Village with Historic Homestead & Houses representing other times & cultures of the Southwest, museum with artifacts from the site, ongoing research & interpretation of the site. At its climax 200-300 people lived amongst the 150+ rooms performing all kinds of tasks. At Salmon Ruins visitors can learn about Chacoan culture, San Juan culture, astronomical alignments in t

he architecture, and much, much more! The museum also schedules tours to Chaco Canyon, Dinetah Navajo defensive sites (pueblitos) and rockart, and the Bisti wilderness . Salmon Ruins: San Juan County Archaeological Research Center and Library is an unique resource for ALL researchers (academic or not) looking into Southwestern cultures and archaeology.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Greater Chaco Cultural Landscape in top 11 most endangered historic places.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the approximately 1,000-year-old geoglyph in Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge was disturbed by border wall contractors nearly two weeks ago.
