Self- care in mediation is essential. Even under the best of circumstances, family, divorce and parenting mediation can be draining.

By engaging in self-care during mediation, you are also prioritizing the mediation process.

Some ways you can invite self-care into the mediation include…

1. Asking yourself “What do I need right now?”. Do you need a break? Water? A snack? Time?

2. Pause. A breath. A moment to pause can allow tensions to be eased and the mediator can bring you both back to your purpose.

3. Prepare. Preparing ahead of time can demystify the mediation process. Knowing what will be discussed ahead of time is a great way to prepare, save time and empower both people.
