🎉 Great news from MSI Security!
We just wrapped up the very first semester of our Internship Program in partnership with IU Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice!

We placed a motivated IU student right into the field as a security officer, giving them real-world experience with everything our team does to keep people and communities safe.

Here’s what our intern, Mia, had to say about the experience:
“MSI Security’s Internship Program has encouraged me to become more involved in serving my community, both inside and outside of the job site. By applying learning strategies from my coursework and integrating them with the hands-on experience obtained from the position, I am continuously improving my approaches to ensuring public safety and building trust and connections with citizens. With MSI’s guidance, I was ultimately capable of acquiring and utilizing crucial problem-solving and decision-making capabilities that will prove invariably useful.”

We’re incredibly proud of Mia and thrilled to say that she will continue her employment with MSI this summer! We can’t wait to keep growing this initiative, support more students, and expand the program’s reach to new areas in the future.

Shout out to MSI Officer Dalton Gilkerson!

Dalton was recognized this month with MSI's Heroic Act Kudos award for his quick thinking and decisive actions on March 12th.
While on tour at an MSI Bloomington site, Dalton encountered an individual who was almost completely unresponsive and needed swift medical attention. Immediately recognizing the severity of the situation, Dalton contacted emergency services, administer Narcan, and began CPR.

His actions provided emergency responders the critical time needed to arrive on scene and continue life saving care. These actions are not only honorable, they demonstrate the vital importance of supplemental support for our first responders.

Thank you, Dalton, for your unflinching action and composure under pressure. And shoutout to all our MSI officers and first responders who step up every day.

We were fortunate to have Chaze Patrick IN at the MSI Bloomington Office for a sit down with MSI's own Jeff Nesbitt, President & Founder, and Chuck Goad, Director of Operations. Many topics were covered including their military experiences, transitioning to the civilian workforce, and how MSI is setting up for the future. Many thanks to the INvets team and their mission of connecting veterans and businesses in Indiana. Keep an eye out in the future for the final product!

Last week, two of our MSI officers were involved in a three-car accident during their nighttime patrol. Officers Raphael Williams and Zachary Gause were at the intersection of SR-45 and N Kinser Pike when a vehicle ran a red light and slammed into the passenger side of their truck. The impact sent the vehicle spinning into a third car.

In the chaotic aftermath, Officer Gause moved into action, knowing his partner in the passenger seat had taken the brunt of the hit. With the truck perched atop another vehicle and the passenger door jammed shut, the only way out was through the driver's side. Aware that Officer Williams had suffered a head injury, Officer Gause quickly stabilized his neck and carefully pulled him to safety, allowing emergency responders to provide immediate care.

This heroic, quick-thinking response is why Officer Gause is being recognized for his bravery. Thankfully, Officer Williams was released from the hospital the next day with just three broken ribs. Williams has remained openly gratefully for his colleague’s quick action and is continuing his recovery with the support of his family and the MSI team.

At MSI, we're incredibly grateful to all of our officers who step up in moments of crisis, providing the often-overlooked support to teammates and the community at large. We’d also be remiss to not recognize our incredible supervisors for their steady guidance under pressure and all the emergency responders who rush in to save lives without hesitation. Your service inspires us all!
