We celebrate Valentines week here at HDS! 💗 And one of my core beliefs about love and business is that you should love your website! It really matters.

Why? Because your website should be something that you’re proud of and something that you actually want to share with people.

The whole goal is that your website is something you can use to in your business to inform, educate, and delight potential clients and customers. So, if you don’t love your website, do you really think your potential clients and customers will? If you don’t love your website, are you going to actually share it with others?

Over my years as a business consultant, I’ve had so many clients tell me that they never look at their own website.

💔 Some don’t look because they have a “set it and forget it” mentality to their website (we’ll tackle that in an upcoming blog post, but just know you have you check in on your website from time to time).

💔 Some don’t look because it was something they designed or hired someone to design for them because they felt they had to have a website, so they checked it off their To Do List and moved on without actually integrating their website into their business flow.

💔 And others admitted that the never look at their own website because they hate it. It makes them cringe. They think it’s ugly. It feels so not them. They just don’t like it, so they avoid it.

Hey Small Business & Solopreneur friends! Quick note to help you out....

If you use email marketing in your business-- like maintain an email list that you communicate with you using a tool like Mailchimp, Flodesk, Squarespace Campaigns, ConvertKit, Active Campaign, etc., then you've likely gotten some emails over the past week or two letting you know of some changes taking effect on February 1, 2024.

Essentially, Google and Yahoo are requiring additional security and verification to allow you to continue emailing people with Gmail and Yahoo email addresses. There are a few moving parts, but the one proving to be the most bumpy for implementing as small businesses and solopreneurs are changes to the DNS records.

The changes/updates required for most email senders under these new rules are relatively simple to implement, but they do require you to get under the figurative hood of your website/domain which can be a really overwhelming and confusing task for many of business owners.

So if you're feeling overwhelmed or confused, I am offering Mini Sessions over the next several days where you and I will hop on Zoom and make the necessary updates/changes together.

I will also share more with you about what the larger changes mean, along with some best practices for ensuring you can continue using your email list and making sure people are seeing your messages.
