Huge congratulations to our neighbors at Aurora VFD on taking delivery of their long awaited new pumper. This truck is the first new pumper they have purchased since 2003 and it couldn’t be going to a more deserving group of men and women. This delivery marks the final page to a 3.5 year process that they have worked tirelessly on to improve their response capabilities. The truck committee has done an outstanding job bringing to life a piece of equipment that began as a discussion and an idea. Aurora chose E-ONE Fire Trucks (Official Site) as their manufacture to best suit there needs and worked closely with Fire Connections Inc. of Rocky Mount to bring the truck to life. So much attention to detail has been placed into this truck and it shows. They honored past history and legacies through color schemes, logos and graphics while bringing the future of fire apparatus to the front.
This truck was one of the last trucks Ronald Inge sold before his passing and even though he’s not here physically to see it and smile with the guys from Aurora we know he is still sharing the delivery we have no doubt and is just as excited as your guys are.

We couldnt help but go welcome the arrival of this new truck with Aurora and get a photo opportunity side by side.

Congratulations to our neighbors at Aurora VFD on their new truck. This truck is definitely an eye catcher and will serve for many years to come. Everyone at Aurora has done an outstanding job bringing this dream to life and it shows through the details they have put into the truck. A picture does this one no justice at all, you have to see it in person to see the details. We cant wait to see it home guys!!!! Outstanding work!!!!!!!

Our new UTV project is nearing completion and will be fully in service once our members have received training on its operation.
The pump and tank arrived this morning and a few of our members worked to get it installed and ready.
A few specs on the machine are below

2026 Polaris Ranger XP 1000 Northstar

85 gallons water
3 gallons Class A foam
75’ booster hose
Rescue Litter Platform
Whelen Emergency Lighting and Siren
3000lb Winch

We will use this machine for fires that typical fire apparatus cant reach and it will be available to deploy statewide for man-made or natural disasters.

Our members as well members from Chocowinity Fire Dept, Washington Fire Rescue EMS, Old Ford Fire Dept, Beaufort County EMS, NCSHP and Beaufort County Sheriffs Office were honored to be able to be present for the procession of Nash County EMS Director Dale Griffin as it passed through Beaufort County this afternoon. Director Griffin sadly passed away in a water related accident in Carteret County.
We extend our thoughts and prayers to Director Griffin’s family as well as his work family at Nash County EMS.

We have been out this afternoon installing signs for our selected water points throughout our district.
These water points have been strategically identified in several locations of our district where hydrants are non existent to be used in the event where large volumes of water may be needed.
Over the past several months we have tested these locations to ensure they are accessible by our fire apparatus and capable of providing the needed flow of water if we were to use them.
Once we have deemed these locations suitable and proved they are capable we listed them with the Office of the State Fire Marshall as approved Water Points and with the approval a sign is placed at the location.
This directly assists us in gaining needed points for lowering our ISO rating with the State Fire Marshalls Office and is an improvement to our service capabilities. With a lower ISO rating for the department we are able to save our residents money on their homeowners insurance premiums. We are still waiting to hear from OSFM office on our most recent rating after our inspection last month.

We placed our new compressor / fill station in service.
We underwent our ISO inspection by the state fire marshals office.
We are currently receiving new equipment ordered from the OSFM grant award.

All while responding to 20 calls for service at various times.

Our members have been busy today having returned from our 3rd alarm of the day. We began the day around 1145hrs when we responded back to the previous structure fire from the day before for a reported rekindle. We arrived to find light smoke throughout the home and smoldering coals and a floor joist smoldering. That was quickly extinguished and we returned to the station.
Our next run came at 1441hrs when we were dispatched for smoke investigation in the area of Olds Blounts Creek Rd and Mouth of the Creek Rd. On arrival we found a small area burning approximately 500 yards off the road resulting from a lightning strike to a tree. Crews used our UTV to access the fire and called for NC Forestry with a plow due to not being able to get water to the fire because of its location.
While enroute to the lightning strike our units came up on a 2 vehicle MVC that had just occurred. Units requested EMS for one transport and remained on scene until NCSHP arrived.
