🏠 Know Your Coverage Before Disaster Strikes

Homeowners insurance is an important part of disaster preparedness. Having coverage in place before a storm, flood, fire, or other disaster can help you recover faster by supporting repairs, replacing belongings, and covering temporary living expenses.

Take time now to review your policy and understand what is — and is not — covered. Most homeowners insurance policies do not cover flood damage, so a separate flood insurance policy may be needed, especially for homes in low-lying, river, coastal, or flood-prone areas.

✅ Review your policy limits, deductibles, and exclusions
✅ Keep photos or video of your home and belongings
✅ Store policy numbers and your agent’s contact information in a safe place
✅ Ask your insurance agent what coverage you may need before disaster strikes

FEMA assistance is not a substitute for insurance. Preparing now can help expedite claims, repairs, and recovery after a disaster.

🌧️ CALHOUN COUNTY WEATHER OUTLOOK- MAY 28, 2026 🌩️

An unsettled weather pattern will continue across Calhoun County and the Florida Panhandle through the weekend and into early next week. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected each day, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

⚠️ Potential Hazards Include:
• Heavy rainfall and localized flooding
• Frequent lightning
• Strong, gusty winds

☔ Rainfall Outlook:
Most areas could receive 2–4 inches of rain over the next 7 days, with isolated areas potentially seeing 6+ inches.

🌀 What’s causing this weather?
A weak cold front interacting with tropical moisture, daily sea breeze activity, and upper-level disturbances will keep rain chances elevated through the upcoming week.
