An extra-neat thing about the Met's "Surrealism Beyond Boarders" and this review by Mark Dery In Hyper Allergic called "Exhilarating Dreamlands of the Unconscious at the Met Museum" is that it includes work from two Humboldt County artist's. Well kind of. It actually does include artwork by Laura Corsiglia which happened to be photographed by Joseph Wilhelm at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, Eureka, California.
Tensions between resistance to Surrealism as cultural imperialism and the embrace of it as a universalist vision of freedom unfettered run through the show.
