Hidden Mold Discovered During Home Remodel in Blue Ridge, GA

Recently, we got a firsthand reminder of that advice during a remodel at the home of the owner of MRS Restoration.
When wall boards were removed during the renovation, hidden mold growth was discovered behind them.

What Should You Do When Mold Is Found Behind a Wall?
Discovering mold during a renovation doesn't mean it should simply be sprayed, painted over, or covered with new materials.
The affected area should be evaluated to determine the extent of the problem and identify the moisture conditions that allowed the growth to occur.
Depending on the circumstances, proper remediation may involve containment, controlled removal of affected materials, HEPA filtration, detailed cleaning, moisture monitoring, and correction of the underlying moisture source.

This time, the mold happened to be in our own home.
