Field tour today at a local bell pepper field. Did you know ? Each plant produces 4-5 pounds. King pepper the first pepper produced and is discard. Peppers get a sunscreen applied. Pepper plants are spaced about 10” apart. Green peppers turn into red peppers. Weeds early on can be removed using lasers. Later they need hand weeding. Harvesting equipment can pick the peppers, sort them with cameras, remove weeds and with only 2-3 persons. Early harvest start 1st week of August and lasts til first freeze. Thank you Farmers!!’

Conagra Frozen Foods supplier summit in Omaha Nebraska. Boardman Foods won the “Enabling the Conagra way award”. What a honor from one of the top food companies in the world. Food Safety, innovation, customer service, reliability. Congratulations to the entire Boardman Foods family including our growers and vendors that make this possible. Tom, Kevin, Armando and Debbie were present to receive award on behalf of all.

A recent safety event at the SAGE center was attended by Boardman Foods. We recognize the significance of safety and are thankful for the training and educational opportunities provided to local families. Deanna Camp Carlos Marquez and Dayana Sepulveda deserve our gratitude for their efforts in organizing and supporting this event.

The Irrigon students provided some very nice thank you cards for our time with them showcasing onion production. So thoughtful. I appreciate the extra efforts by the staff to teach students these acts of gratitude.
