Our LFB Plasma Fort Pierce staff recently volunteered with GraceWay Village in Fort Pierce, FL. Staff set up a new patio area for an upcoming event and distributed food to the community. Our staff learned about GraceWay Village's daily operations and future plans to help those in need. LFB Plasma is proud to foster a relationship with a non-profit organization that gives back to the community.

In March, LFB Plasma welcomed Cindi Stepanov, a speaker from the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF) to the LFB Plasma Collection Center in Anniston, Alabama Center. Cindi told our Anniston team members about her 20-year journey living with Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID), including 18 years of IVIG treatment. Her journey began in 2005 when she was working as a critical care nurse and suddenly became ill with a high fever, sore throat, and persistent cough. What seemed to be a routine illness ultimately led to a life-changing diagnosis.

As Cindi came to understand her condition, she stepped away from her career as a nurse due to the demands of her health. She received her first IVIG infusion on New Year’s Day in 2007 after experiencing severe complications. This infusion marked the start of her long-term treatment. Over time, infusions became routine and critical to maintaining her health and stability.

Cindi also shared her personal battle with infertility and endometriosis, and the challenges she faced while pursuing motherhood. After undergoing treatment and surgery, she conceived her son who is now 16 years old. During her pregnancy, she required increased IVIG support to protect both herself and her child. Despite experiencing serious complications during delivery, including a high fever and significant blood loss, she persevered and remains grateful to be here today with her healthy son.

Cindi has dedicated herself to supporting others with immune deficiency by becoming actively involved in the IDF community and participating in seminars to uplift women and families facing similar challenges. She thanked the LFB Anniston team for their role in collecting and processing plasma to support patients like her. Our staff was moved her personal story as they saw how their daily efforts saved the lives of Cindi and other patients.

In March, LFB Plasma welcomed Greg Hayes, a speaker from the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF), to the LFB Plasma Center in Pueblo, Colorado Center. Greg shared that he was healthy for his entire life until 2016 when he began experiencing issues with his lungs. After going for a year without a clear diagnosis, he developed a severe case of pneumonia and a diagnosis of lymphoma. Doctors also discovered that his immunoglobulin levels were significantly below normal, revealing a previously undetected immune deficiency.
Following this diagnosis, Greg began plasma-based therapies immediately. He described these treatments as his lifesaving grace, crediting them with maintaining his health and giving him the ability to continue working with the public. Today, the therapies provide him with daily protection and allow him to spend time with his grandchildren who are central to his life.

As a triumphant milestone, Greg noted that he has since been cleared of lymphoma. This milestone speaks to both his resilience and the effectiveness of his care. He expressed sincere gratitude to the Pueblo team, recognizing the vital role they play in collecting and processing plasma for patients like him. His story connected with the Pueblo team, some of whom reflected on similar experiences in their own families and communities.

Greg left a lasting impression on the team. He reinforced the idea that each donation directly contributes to patient survival and improved quality of life. Learning how many donations it takes to produce even a small amount of medicine was especially meaningful, further highlighting the importance behind the work we do at LFB Plasma.

In February, LFB Plasma welcomed Julia Hayes, a speaker from the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF), to the LFB Plasma Collection Center in High Point, North Carolina. Julia shared her journey living with hypogammaglobulinemia, a condition that limits the body’s ability to produce immunoglobulins. After years of relying on antibiotics and steroids, Julia found stability through plasma-based therapies, which have allowed her to live a normal and healthy life. With humor, she described her reliance on plasma therapies by comparing herself to a “vampire,” emphasizing that donated plasma is essential to her life.

Julia also spoke about passing this genetic condition on to her children, which was a difficult reality for her. She expressed gratitude that they were diagnosed early and able to begin IVIG treatment in their childhoods—avoiding the uncertain path she experienced.

Her story created a meaningful connection for our staff, many of whom gained a deeper understanding of the impact of their daily work. Julia personally thanked the team in High Point for their role in collecting and processing plasma that supports life for patients like her and her family.

They Are The Difference: LFB Plasma Employees Enable Life-Saving Therapies

Immune Deficiency Foundation patient advocates visited LFB Plasma centers in December 2025 inspiring employees who collect life-saving plasma, knowing they are the difference for patients and families.

In December 2025, LFB Plasma welcomed two patient advocates, Tanner Wilson and Denna Murray McGrew, from the Immune Deficiency Foundation to our Fort Pierce and Greenacres plasma collection centers. The advocates told personal stories underscored our mission: plasma collected by LFB Plasma is the essential starting material for life-saving therapies for people with primary immunodeficiencies.

On December 2, LFB Plasma Fort Pierce Center welcomed Tanner Wilson and his family. Tanner shared his lifelong journey with a primary immune deficiency, including his reliance on plasma-derived therapies. His story resonated with our team members who were gratified to hear how the quality plasma we supply becomes part of the therapies that have enabled him to attend school, play football, have a family, build a career and live a full life. His family’s gratitude for the donors and the entire supply chain, which begins with centers like ours, was deeply moving for our team.

On December 3rd, Denna Murray McGrew visited the LFB Plasma Greenacres Center. Denna shared her personal story of a genetic primary immune disease passed onto her two children. She spoke with incredible strength about her son’s bravery and his wish to advance plasma research before his passing in 2025. Denna advocates for plasma donation to honor her son, and her advocacy inspired the entire team to continue doing what we do.

The patient advocate visits were transformative for our employees. Their personal stories reinforced the positive difference that LFB Plasma employees make to thousands of lives every day by collecting plasma for life-saving plasma-derived therapies. Understanding the immense number of plasma donations required for a single treatment regimen highlighted the critical importance of our role.

As the New Year approaches, we look back on the collective impact we made in 2025.

Every donation contributed to a brighter future for patients who use plasma therapies. We thank our donors for donating and our LFB Plasma employees for making donating possible.

All LFB Plasma centers will be closed on January 1st, 2026 (New Year’s Day). We will reopen according to our normal schedule on January 2nd.

As the holiday season fills our hearts with gratitude, we want to spotlight those who give the gift of hope all year long.

Thank you to all LFB Plasma donors whose generosity fuels life-changing therapies. Thank you also to our LFB Plasma employees, whose commitment turned donor generosity into healing.
All LFB Plasma centers will be closed on December 25th (Christmas Day). We look forward to welcoming our donors back when we resume normal operations on December 26th.
