After a big Sunday pot of pasta, I’d sit beside my mom on the piano bench and listen to my family play. When someone hit a wrong note, they’d pause, listen, find each other again, and return to the same page of music.

I didn’t know then how much that moment would shape my work with growing companies.

Decades later, I still bring that piano bench into every leadership room I enter: the pause, the listening, the return to the same page of music.

WHY DO WE NEED GOOD WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP?
Because the future of leadership needs all of us. We don’t need less masculine. We need more feminine. (Just like more cowbell, but better. 😉)
As Women’s Equality Day approaches, I don't believe the answer is teaching women to lead more like men. It's about honoring the feminine AND integrating the best of both.

In the late 1800s, San Francisco Italian fishing families came back from sea and pooled whatever they'd caught into one shared pot.
No single person ever had enough to feed everyone. Together, they created cioppino, one of the most celebrated dishes in American food history.
Nobody owned the recipe. Everybody contributed.
The most successful companies I know grow in exactly the same way. Not by having all the answers, but by surrounding themselves with people who've already solved the problem in front of them.

But what if those pauses were never meant to punish you, only to protect you from paths that would have broken you or timing that would have cost you more than you realize? We get so frustrated watching others move forward while we feel stuck, not knowing that our stillness is part of our safety, our becoming. And maybe the hardest lesson is this: trusting that your green light will come—not late, not early, but exactly when you’re ready to move without losing yourself along the way.
