Getting out and enjoying nature is a way that I can get away from the struggles and hustle of everyday life. My images are meant to represent a more peaceful setting that can be found in the Florida Everglades, or by going on a cross-country journey. Most of these images were taken out on loop road in the Big Cypress National Preserve. The images show water slowly meandering through the cypress sw
amp that is home to many birds and wildlife. It was my goal to capture the tranquility of the everglades, and to show some of the forgotten wildlife that resides in close proximity to us. There are several places within a short drive where people can reconnect with nature, and look back in time before man encroached upon Florida’s natural beauty. For those seeking more adventure, such as myself, longer trips may become necessary to fulfill our desire to be free. In 2014, I ventured on a 700 mile journey on the Appalachian Trail. I hiked from Amicalola Falls State Park in Georgia to Damascus, Virginia before getting off the trail. I traveled for 2 weeks with my family up into Canada. They then dropped me back off in Maine, so I could SOBO [South Bound] back to Damascus as I would not have made it to Katahdin, the final leg of the trip, in time. Making a long story short, my knees finally gave out on me half way through Maine, and I came home soon after. Ever since I have returned, I've longed to be back out on 'The Trail.' My goal is to head back out this summer, 2016, with a teardrop trailer in tow behind my Jeep, to capture the beauty of the Appalachian Trail. I will be looking forward to capturing more of what this country has to offer.
