A Fresh Coat Makes a Difference!

This week’s project was all about freshening things up for this Boiling Springs homeowner.

We gave the front porch and carport some new life with fresh paint on the:
• Front porch ceiling
• Carport ceiling
• Porch trim and fascia
• Decorative support posts
• Interior/exterior doors

There wasn’t a major remodel needed here—just some careful prep, a lot of cutting-in around brick and trim, and fresh paint to make everything look clean and cared for again.

Sometimes the smaller projects make a pretty big difference in how a home feels. 😊

Thankful for another homeowner who trusted Chris Evenson Property Services with their home!

Sometimes the Most Important Part of a Repair Is Knowing When to Stop.

I went into a drywall repair today expecting to patch several areas of ceiling that had been opened after a previous water issue.

But when I reached into one of the openings, the insulation still felt damp underneath, and there was a noticeable vinegar/sour smell coming from the ceiling cavity.

At that point, the drywall repair had to wait.

I let the homeowners know what I had found and recommended that they have the moisture issue reassessed before I close everything back up. They agreed, and we’ll pick the repair back up once we know everything above the ceiling is dry and taken care of.

It would be easy to make the holes disappear, smooth everything out, paint it, and call the job finished.

But sometimes doing the job right means NOT covering something up so you can’t see it anymore.

I’d much rather have an uncomfortable conversation today than leave a homeowner with a bigger problem hidden behind brand-new drywall.

That’s part of taking care of the property—and the people who live there.

Part 2 — The Work Behind the Finished Product

Every project has a few moments where you have to slow down, rethink something, and make sure you’re doing it right instead of just doing it fast.

This one had a few of those.

When we tore the old roof off the shed, we found areas of rotten decking that needed to be replaced before anything new could go back on. We repaired those areas, installed the new decking where needed, and managed to get the roof completely dried-in just before a substantial thunderstorm rolled through. That was a good feeling!

The custom shed doors ended up being another project of their own. Getting two large doors to hang correctly, line up evenly, close tightly, and still carry the decorative design we wanted took some careful measuring and adjusting. There was even a point where I realized part of the first attempt wasn’t going to give me the finished look I wanted — so rather than try to hide it or make it “good enough,” I started that portion over and rebuilt it.

There were plenty of smaller details along the way too — fitting the new lattice, repairing portions of the gazebo, working through some siding repairs on the house, and making sure the little things were finished in a way I’d be comfortable putting my name on.

That’s part of what I’m learning to appreciate about this kind of work: the finished picture usually doesn’t show all the decisions, corrections, measuring, problem-solving, and patience that happened along the way.

But those are often the things that make the finished result worth showing.

Next up: the final reveal. 🙌

Before the Finished Product: The Story Behind This Project

This project was about more than just fixing a few things around the house.

For these homeowners, some of these repairs had been waiting since Hurricane Helene, and we were grateful for the opportunity to come alongside them and help get several of those projects across the finish line.

We replaced the shed roof, rebuilt the shed doors, updated the lattice around the shed and gazebo, made repairs to the gazebo, and repaired damaged siding on the house.

One of the things I enjoy most about this work is seeing a project go from something that has been hanging over a homeowner’s head for a long time to something they can finally look at and say, “That’s done.”

There was a lot that went into this one, and in the next few posts I’m going to share some of the process, the challenges we ran into along the way, and of course the finished results.

Very thankful for homeowners who trust us with their property and give us the opportunity to serve them well.

Watch this space to see how everything turns out!

Helping sellers cross the finish-line!

Today was one of those days that reminds me how much the little things matter.

This family is getting ready to put their home on the market next week, so I spent a couple of days helping them cross a few things off the list—treating the roof for moss and algae, repairing a rotted French door jamb, sealing it up, and taking care of a few other details that make a home feel cared for.

Most people won't notice every repair, and that's okay. The goal isn't for someone to notice the work—it's for them to walk up to the house and simply see that it's been well cared for.

I'm thankful for another opportunity to serve some great people today, and I pray their home sells quickly as they begin a new chapter.

Grateful for the work. Grateful for the people God brings across my path.

Beautiful Deck Staining

This project was a special one.
When I first arrived, this beautiful deck was only about a year old. The craftsmanship was already there—it just needed its first coat of protection to help preserve it for years to come.

I'll be honest... this project challenged me more than I expected.

Between the summer heat, chasing the shade around the deck, afternoon rain, and learning a few lessons along the way, there were moments I questioned myself. But those moments also reminded me why I started this business. Every project is an opportunity to learn, grow, and give people my very best.
Today, standing back and looking at the finished result, I'm grateful. Grateful for customers who trusted me with their home. Grateful for another opportunity to build this business one project at a time. And grateful that hard work still matters.

One of the verses I try to carry into every job is Colossians 3:23: "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men."
Thank you, Goodson family, for allowing me to help protect and beautify your outdoor space. I hope your family enjoys it for many years to come!

If you're looking for someone who will treat your home with care, communicate honestly, and work hard to do the job right, I'd love the opportunity to help.

Helping homeowners sell.

It's often the little details that make the biggest difference. New hardware, new light fixtures, fresh paint, repairs, cleanup, and a little attention to the small things can completely change how a space feels.

I enjoy helping homeowners with repairs, maintenance, and those projects that make a home feel refreshed, especially when they are getting ready to list a house for sale.

One thing I'm learning as I grow Chris Evenson Property Services is that I don't have to do everything.

There are some jobs that fit my experience and abilities really well, and there are others where I know another company can serve the customer better.

I've found that it's much better to recommend trustworthy, quality companies than to pretend I can do it all.

Recently I had the opportunity to recommend Roof Boost, LLC for a project that was beyond the scope of what I currently offer. I know the people there, I know the quality of their work, and I have confidence they'll take great care of the homeowner.

I believe there's plenty of work to go around, and when local businesses help one another instead of trying to compete over every job, everyone wins—especially the customer.

My goal is simple: If I can do the job well, I'll gladly help. If I know someone can serve you better, I'll gladly point you to them.

That's the kind of business I want to build.
