No matter how you decide to journal, remember there is no right or wrong approach. It’s all up to you. The simple act of taking the time to get in touch with your mind, body, and spirit is what’s truly important.

Here are a few different types of journaling options to consider:

📝Stream of consciousness: Write down your thoughts as they happen. The words and thoughts don’t need to make sense, you’re simply capturing your thoughts in action.

📝 Dream journal: Take note of your dreams each night as a way of getting in touch with your subconscious. Remember to make your journal entries right when you wake up.

📝 Food journal: Make a note of what you’ve eaten each day. This will help you be more mindful about the foods you choose to eat. If you’re struggling with a healthy weight-loss journey, documenting what you ate can offer insight into areas you may need to change.

📝Fitness journal: Keep track of your workouts so you can stay committed to an active lifestyle. The best part of keeping this type of journal is seeing the progress you made over time.

📝 Gratitude journal: Before going to sleep, make a list of everything you were thankful for that day, week, or month.

📝 Sketch journal: Express your feelings, thoughts, and ideas through illustrations, doodles, or sketches.

📝 Day’s events journal: Keep track of your experiences throughout the day. Whether it’s making note of a funny conversation or describing a new recipe you enjoyed.

📝 To-do list: Instead of keeping a running tally of to-do items in your head, write them down. You can cross things off as you complete them and get a great sense of accomplishment.

Find what works for you and enjoy ❤️

“My mindset, restlessness, and misery was pretty bad then...even a beautiful trip didn’t really make me feel good.”
Rishi Menon has a story that you might be able to relate to. It’s a story of ups and downs and learning a lot through through those times.

The first picture was in Bali, August 2019, right after a really hard time in his life. He says, “ I thought it would help me feel better.” If you want to learn about how Rishi was able to get through hard times in his life, click the link below. It is well worth the listen.
The second picture in this post is a more recent photo of Rishi working as a Cardiologist in Sacramento, CA.

Thank you Rishi for sharing your story and wisdom. We are happy to know you and we know your inspiration will continue to inspire others ❤️

“People need to live in the present and just appreciate the present. I feel like society is so focused on what you did wrong in the past, or preparing yourself for the future or thinking about the future. If you actually sit down and just, try to clear your mind and think about stuff for a couple of minutes…

If you just live with what's happening right now, I think you would actually realize that you never do that. No one ever does that. Like, if you're meditating, you're actually thinking about your breath. That's the time you're living in the present, but when you're meditating and you're thinking about something else in the future, you know, that's, you're not really sort of living in the present.
Spend the effort and the time to live in the present!”

As we head into the weekend and start fresh with a new week next week, remember this. Try it! See what Dan’s advice does for you when your truly live in the present ❤️

***Remember this on the days you just need a second…

“The only thing you're going to really have to answer for, I believe at the end of your life is, is how you lived your life. And yes, we have responsibilities. I raised three kids and most of the time when I was raising those children, I was a single parent.

I know what it feels like to have responsibilities and zero time to yourself. You can't even go to the restroom by yourself. You know, you've got one keeping the door open to watch the other two. I know what that like, But we can all sn**ch a minute, a day, 60 seconds, 30 seconds, five minutes for something that keeps us alive.

Start small, but start with something that you appreciate. And don't try to make it something big, something small that you have no pressure on - you just do it because it's part of who you are or who you want to be.” - Lyn Christian

Lyn shared this as our first guest on our podcast a few months ago and we can’t get it out of our minds. The time it takes to take care of yourself is next to none. Take the time to take care of you and take time to care for others. Happy Monday ❤️

How do you overcome the obstacles when you tell yourself when that voice in your heads like, “ah, you got to give this up, don't do this. This is too much for you. You don't want to get out of bed. You don't want to do the thing… you sorta want to party on Friday.”
What is your favorite piece of advice that you've gotten or that you've come up with to help folks get through some of those, because we all have them, right? -

Kaleb Redden responds:
Everyone's got a little of the devil and angel, and the voice in your head is always going to be the best piece of advice for how you talk to that voice. I think that it comes back to a quote, really simple - there's no substitute for strength and no excuse for lack of it.

What has worked to help you get up and moving during those times? Comment below!

This was such an inspiring episode - all the way back to episode 9… if you happened to missed this one, click this link: https://anchor.fm/head-to-heart1/episodes/Living-The-Life-You-Love-with-Kaleb-Redden-muscledoc_kr---S01E09-e11find

And just like that….. it’s OVER!

We honestly can’t believe that our first season of our podcast is wrapped. It has been such an incredible journey for us to figure out what works, what doesn’t and evaluate what we have learned along the way.

We started this podcast with the idea to reach people and help them in anyway that we can. We’ve been able to touch on a variety of different topics and with a variety of different guests. We are so grateful for all the love and support that we have received and honestly are so excited to know that we are just barely getting started!

With that… we are asking for your feedback! What did you like, love, or not love that we’ve done or put out? We want to know it all!

Comment below or send us a message so we can learn and grow and be better! ❤️

Without challenge, there is no change!
Drea mentioned this powerful quote in our latest episode and it fed directly into Dan's common sense department tip for this week. Dan talked about how it should be common sense to everyone to get more sleep - Dr's orders (haha)!!
The challenge for you is to get the sleep your body deserves. Can you proactively try and do that? Comment below how many hours you typically get!

Have you ever heard of an "amygdala hijack"? If you haven't heard of it, you might have experienced it before....

An amygdala hijack is an emotional response that is immediate, overwhelming, and out of measure with the actual stimulus because it has triggered a much more significant emotional threat.

In our latest podcast, and throughout many episodes we discuss how important mental health can be. A person can ease the symptoms of amygdala hijack and over time, they may also be able to stop them altogether.

If you or someone you know feels the symptoms of an amygdala hijack beginning to appear, it is important that they take the time to try to activate their frontal lobes.

For example, if they feel stressed and their hands begin to sweat or their heart rate quickens, they should try to take a break and walk away from the situation that has triggered this response.

If the person takes a short break and calms down, they may then be able to rationally think about the situation and decide on a more appropriate response to the stressor.

It is a good idea for people to try to understand how their body reacts to stressful situations. This could mean thinking about previous instances of amygdala hijack in order to see what triggered the response.

In doing this, the person may be able to prevent such a response in the future. ❤️
