Friday Fun... I thought it would be fun to start a little challenge of sorts... share an adjective that describes you (how you would describe yourself) using the first letter of your first name. And, if you feel compelled to share, share why you chose that word.

I'll start: D - Determined - I feel that "determined" sums me up in a lot of ways... I'm always looking for solutions to things... always pushing myself in a workout or on a hike... etc. :-)

A little weekend fun at the Hise house...

After all of the amazing and adorable doggie pics the past few days, Chuck and Nunchuck wanted to know if there was a national pet birdie day... and it turns out there is! ;-) it's September 17th... they are making their special plans now!

Well... we have safely returned from a 75-mile adventure hiking from Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite to Sonora Pass. It took us an extra day (6 days instead of 5) and it was quite tough. We climbed east to west across several canyons for a total of just over 14,000 feet and descending somewhere around 13,000 feet over the 75 miles.🥾⛰

We saw incredible scenery, alpine lakes, sprawling meadows, beautiful streams and creeks...had a couple of encounters with bears and we saw lots of wildlife. 🐻🦌🐦🐍🦎🦅 We also got to see some of the Perseid Meteor shower on our final morning.

We are both deeply grateful for such an incredible experience. 💜

A gorgeous day for a hike yesterday. We bagged 2 peaks...Freel and Job's Sister. The clouds were ominous in the early afternoon, so we chose to head down the mountain and forgo the third peak, Job's.

Overall, the day was amazing. A little over 12 miles with annoy 3,300 feet of elevation gain.

The decent from Job's Sister was an intense, steep downhill scree field. Manageable... just had to be mindful with every step.

The views were incredible... Lake Tahoe on one side, Hope Valley on the other... then Gardnerville.

Think about it Thursday...

I recently had a call with one of my lovely teammates who is helping bring a project to fruition.

We were bouncing ideas back and forth and I was reminded of my mantra on Monday...

What motivates me inspires me...
What inspires me motivates me.

And I'm reminded of the power of that statement. I'm inspired by nature and I'm motivated to maintain health and fitness... and I'm inspired to continue living a healthy lifestyle. I'm inspired by the Divine downloads I receive on hikes with my husband, and I'm motivated to do more hikes.... you get the idea, right? :-)

Would you please join me in a big a$$ celebration?🥳

Jason and I finished the last piece of the gap we needed to close the Pacific Crest Trail from Burney Falls to Sonora Pass. We now have about 200 miles left to finish the Sierra section of the PCT, which is our current goal... however, today we celebrate! 💃🏽🤸🏽‍♀️

A few weeks ago we hiked from Barker Pass to Alpine Meadows resort.

And today, we hiked about 16.5 miles with around 4000 feet of elevation. 😜 it was tough. It was a bit smokey, so we were mindful of that. It was hot. And did I mention 4000 feet? Haha

We are feeling grateful and proud of this achievement because it's taken tenacity, dedication, determination, and yeah, a little bit of crazy, too. 🤣

Yesterday, Jason and I took a little trip through our local Barnes & Noble and they had a whole table curated just for us - haha. We did pick up the "Sierra South" gem for some planning this summer. 😁

Who gets up ay 5am for a hike? The Hise Hikers, of course.🤪 Lol we made our way to Cataract Falls today. It was so worth it! About 6.5 miles with 1,600 feet of elevation. 🥾

A lot of beautiful flowers along the way as well as several spots to view various parts of the falls. 🌼🏵🌸

Rexie enjoyed the fogged in views of the bay from the top. 🦖

This trail has so many incredible footbridges, which I think are one of my favorite features of this trail. Oh, and lots and LOTS of stairs. 🤣

A beautiful early morning start at the Stevens Trail near Colfax, CA did not disappoint. The wildflowers were plentiful and the river was running nicely.

Stats: almost 8 miles, nearly 1,500 feet of climbing and spectacular views.
