I love making homeade pizza with my baby girl π π¦πand on this occasion it brought about a very interesting conversation π€. Amelia began to get frustrated that her pizza wasn't 'round enough' (as if that's the benchmark for great pizza anyhow). Check out the pic of us making homemade pizza, you'll see it's not as round as it could be. But was yummyπ π . I caught myself, starting to echo a silly phrase that we all use (especially to make our kids feel better or stay motivated and in the moment) "PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT BABY GIRL π₯°". But then I thought to myself why did you say that, you don't even believe that! π€π³π. I mean what is perfect anyway? Would we even know it if we saw it? Evolving, Transforming and PROGRESS are all much more compelling and beautiful, then PERFECT. Although this saying & term is widely accepted and used, it's time for a mindshift. I then remembered a genius quote that I love by the great that. Thinking to myself, this one of those teachable moments that I always look for to share with Amelia. An opportunity to 'play the long-game' (as like to say) and not just dumb it down using that she's 4+yrs old as an excuse. So being true to my word, I walked the statement back and took the time to share this quote with her (see pics). π I'm sure it didn't all land perfectly right now but in years to come hopefully she'll adopt this type of thinkingπ‘ and not be a slave to 'trying to be perfect' (whatever that is anyway)!
