Saturday’s storm was a powerful reminder of how quickly conditions can change on the water.
On August 22, a sudden and severe storm brought extremely high winds and dangerous conditions to the area. During the storm, a small vessel struck rocks and capsized, sending several people—including a young child—into the water. Thankfully, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol responded quickly and rescued those still in the water.
A huge Bravo Zulu to BCSO and SCDNR for their response and dedication to keeping boaters safe. 🇺🇸
This is also a reminder to never underestimate fast-moving weather. Strong winds, sudden storms, rough water, and reduced visibility can turn a normal day on the water into an emergency very quickly.
Check the forecast. Watch the sky. Know when it’s time to head back. Stay safe out there. 🌊
