We're excited to welcome Carrie Caviness, PhD, PE, to Destination by Design as a Civil/Environmental Engineer!

River and stream restoration, public river access, greenways and trails, and downtown revitalization are the kinds of projects that connect communities to their natural assets. More and more, they require planning, design, environmental expertise, and engineering to work together from the very beginning.

Carrie brings more than 20 years of civil and environmental engineering experience and a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida. Her expertise expands our ability to take on:

💧 River and stream restoration, from floodplains to permitting
🌊 Public river access, like paddle launches, riverfront parks, and boardwalks
🌲 Greenways and trails, including bridges and trailheads
🏘️ Downtown revitalization, with streetscapes, green infrastructure, and public spaces

From restoring a river corridor to revitalizing a downtown, DbD can carry these projects from planning and design through engineering, permitting, and construction.

Big weekend for Max — MOmentum's own rider placed 2nd at the pump track World Qualifier and is officially headed to the World Championships in Beijing 👀

He wasn't the only one making headlines. Two-time World Champion Tommy Zula showed up and won it all, too.

Oh, and this was the largest UCI World Qualifier the US has ever hosted.

94 riders. And a big crowd of family, friends, and fans who came out to cheer them on!

This is what happens when a park gets put on the map. Getting people hyped for an event is one thing. Watching them actually show up and ride is the best part of the job.

That's how Case, one of our Landscape Architects, answers the question we get asked all the time: what do we actually do? Turns out it's this: take a big idea and keep refining it, sketch by sketch, until it's a real place with real people in it.

New signage is popping up all over Blowing Rock, guiding visitors downtown, to the trails, and everywhere in between. Each sign was custom designed to fit the character of the town. 🍁

Did you know signage has its own vocabulary? Some of these are officially called "Confidence Markers" — they don't tell you where to turn, they just quietly confirm you're headed the right way.

Proud to have partnered with the Blowing Rock TDA on this one.
