Pride is a celebration of joy, visibility, community, and love, but it’s also important to remember the history that shaped it. This month, we’re reflecting on how Pride grew from protest and resistance, particularly following the Stonewall Uprising in 1969, when LGBTQ+ communities pushed back against discrimination, police harassment, and systemic injustice.
And while Pride today can include parades, parties, and celebration, many LGBTQ+ people continue to face discrimination, violence, legislative attacks, and barriers to safety, healthcare, and belonging.
Celebration matters. Joy matters. And continuing the work matters too. Happy Pride Month. 🌈
