I went back through old follow-ups this week.

A lot of the coaches I spoke to said some version of:

“I want to figure it out myself first.”
“I can learn this on YouTube.”
“I’ll hire a mentor when I’m making more money.”

So I checked their pages.

Some haven’t posted in six months.

I’m not saying a mentor magically builds your business for you. You still have to create the content, have the conversations, and make the offers.

But if your offer isn’t landing, your content isn’t bringing in leads, or your sales calls aren’t closing, how long are you willing to guess at the problem?

I’ve been saying since 2024 that online coaching was getting too competitive to spend a year on blind trial and error. AI has only raised the bar since then.

There’s only so much you can cut.

Learning how to sell, attract clients, and deliver a service people value gives you something else to work on: what comes IN.

For health & fitness coaches, that means getting as serious about the business as you are about the coaching.

Learn how to communicate your value.
Create an offer people understand.
Build a repeatable way to get clients.

Will it happen overnight? No.

It might take a year. It might take three.

But those years are passing either way.

You can spend them protecting the same paycheck—or working toward more options.

Choice is yours.

Everyone thinks it was luck.

Or timing.

Or that I somehow had an advantage.

I didn’t.

I started at my parent’s kitchen table with nothing but my laptop, a skill I knew people needed, and the belief that I was capable of a lot more.

Here’s what nobody tells you:

Being great at what you do is one skill.

Getting people to pay you for it is a completely different one.

The market doesn’t reward the best coach.

It rewards the coach who communicates the value of their transformation the clearest.

Most coaches think they need to post more.

You don’t.

You need an offer people instantly understand.

You can’t out-post a confusing message.

The biggest jumps in my business happened because I stopped trying to figure everything out myself and learned from people who had already built what I wanted.

That shortcut saved me years.

I also never relied on going ads.

I just kept showing up.

Every day.

Refining.

Improving.

Repeating.

Eventually, it compounds.

If you want to build a successful online coaching business, you don’t need 100 different strategies.

You need six things:

• A niche people actually care about.
• An offer people want to buy.
• A personal brand that builds trust.
• Sales skills.
• A solution to a problem people are willing to pay to solve.
• The discipline to show up every single day.

That’s it.

There’s no secret.

The hard part is betting on yourself before you feel ready.

You’re a great coach.

But you’re watching coaches who are less educated, less experienced, and less invested than you sign more clients.

Why?

Their messaging is sharper.

Most coaches say things like:

“I help women lose weight and feel confident.”

But your ideal client isn’t thinking, “I want confidence.”

She’s thinking:

“I hate how I look in family photos.”

“I keep hiding behind my kids.”

“I try on 8 outfits before I leave.”

That’s what your content needs to speak to.

Not just the goal.

Not just the problem.

The actual moments where she feels the pain.

Instead of saying:

“Feel confident at the beach with your kids.”

Say:

“Go from hiding behind your kids in every family photo to asking your husband to take a solo bikini pic because you actually feel hot again.”

That’s what makes someone think:

“Wait… that’s me.”

You don’t need a narrower niche.

You need more specific messaging.
