Repost from

Carol Catalano studied at Rhode Island School of Design and founded Catalano Design in 1987. In 2001, Herman Miller introduced her molded plywood stool, Capelli. Inspired by the molded plywood work of Charles and Ray Eames, Catalano did her own experimentations with the material. The resulting design won a silver in the prestigious International Furniture Design Competition in 1999—the only American design selected from over 700 entries from around the world. “With Herman Miller’s history with molded plywood, they were a clear first choice for a partner,” Catalano says. “This is where the stool belongs.” See link in bio for more on Catalano and her designs.
