DPM Pro Tip:
Patients often arrive having researched their symptoms online—and that’s okay.
Instead of dismissing what they found, acknowledge their effort and guide the conversation with confidence.
Try saying:
“I’m glad you’re taking an active interest in your health. Let’s compare what you’ve found with your examination and any imaging so we can determine what’s actually causing your symptoms.”
Patients who feel heard are more likely to trust your recommendations and follow through with treatment.
Remember: The goal isn’t to compete with “Dr. Google.” It’s to demonstrate the value of your education, clinical experience, and expert evaluation.
