🇺🇸🎉 Happy ! Here in Massachusetts, Black Lion Strategies is honored to have organized a legislative briefing at the State House in Boston on behalf of our client, the MA Civic Learning Coalition. Educators, school district administrators, middle and high school students, and Senator Becca Rausch—the Senate lead for the Civics Project Trust Fund—came together to showcase how the 2018 civic education law has transformed teaching, learning, and civic engagement beyond the classroom.

Civic education is the foundation of a healthy democracy. That’s why we're advocating to increase funding for grants that support civic showcases, student learning and engagement, and teacher professional development in school districts across Massachusetts.

📢 Join us in strengthening civic education! Learn more about the MA Civic Learning Coalition's work and sign up for updates at www.macivicsforall.org

Eastern Bank’s 2024 Celebration of Social Justice brought together hundreds in Boston to honor a true trailblazer: Jackie Jenkins-Scott, a cherished friend and core partner of Black Lion Strategies. Jackie was recognized for her "innovative, unwavering, and transformational leadership over the past 30 years as a champion for social justice and equity in education and healthcare."

We are especially proud to have collaborated with Jackie and her team last year during her pivotal tenure as interim president of Roxbury Community College, where we created the strategic vision for the federally-funded RCC Business Innovation Center, which is launching soon.

Congratulations and thank you to Jackie for her authentic leadership and to the Eastern Bank Foundation for 30 years of transformative philanthropy!

Black Lion Strategies CEO Samuel M. Gebru recently spoke at an economic policy forum hosted by State House News Service and MASSterList, focusing on strategies to boost Massachusetts' competitiveness. His insights centered on how we can attract and retain the next generation of talent to live, work, learn, and thrive here in the Commonwealth.

The forum featured an inspiring keynote from Massachusetts Secretary of Economic Development Yvonne Hao and a data-driven presentation by Douglas Howgate of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation. Panelists included State Senators Julian Cyr and Barry Finegold, along with key leaders like Ché Anderson (UMass Chan Medical School), Katie Luczai (Town of Arlington, MA), Jon Hurst (Retailers Association of Massachusetts), Kendalle Burlin O'Connell (MassBio), and Lisa Wieland (National Grid). The forum was moderated by Boston Globe reporters Diti Kohli and Jon Chesto.
