Journey mapping is a method of visually representing an individual’s path through systems of care. It documents key events, services, transitions, and decisions from initial contact through treatment and beyond. By consolidating information into a single, chronological visualization, it allows participants to clearly see how a case unfolds, highlighting critical gaps, inefficiencies, and turning points.

PCG’s new brief, co-authored by Kacie Schlegel, highlights how journey mapping has been applied to reveal service gaps and complexities in children’s behavioral health, generating creative solutions for improving youth and family experiences and outcomes. Learn more here:

As the school year comes to a close, we are reflecting on our partnership with the New Mexico Public Education Department to deliver statewide professional development focused on inclusive practices, culturally responsive instruction, and data-informed decision-making. In 2024, this partnership expanded through a multi-year collaboration with the Office of Special Education to develop instructional modules and provide in-person and virtual professional learning for educators and service providers, administrators, aspiring leaders, families, and caregivers.

To date, PCG has delivered more than 110 professional development sessions, and supported the state's annual Parent University, a no cost statewide family conference created to empower parents and caregivers of students with disabilities.
