Founder productivity hack - a four hour plane or train ride can be such a great place to get in a flow state. No meetings. No outside expectations. I’ve saved a big meaty dev project for Capital Fluency specifically for this morning because I knew how much more focused I’d be today. And then when I arrive in the city, I get to play! Perfect balance

Claude can be an incredible project management partner, but only if the understands my frameworks for strategically prioritizing the work are baked in. Knowing why to work on one thing and to NOT work on other things helps me keep my sanity in the midst of growing a startup. It’s not about doing everything. It’s about doing the right things at the right time. And then going to the beach.

Here’s a fun use of cowork! You can’t imagine how surprised the junkyard dealer was when I called in, asked for exact part I wanted and he had it in stock in the right paint color! Claude knew better than he did what was in his stock! And I saved $1400. All research completed while I worked on a sewing project at the library. So satisfying.

Last week, I got to reconnect with Allison Byers from at Agents of Change. Allison just published her book on fundraising! We met when I first arrived to Boston because of our shared, fierce determination to see women succeed in business. I’m thrilled to see and support her contribution to this work. Congrats Allison!!

I might have had a super fun evening of dancing planned, but that doesn’t mean my AI genie coworkers get time off.

Nothing is wasted. All learning is good learning. Though… in hindsight, I do wish I spent more time sailing and less time yelling at my computer in all caps last summer.

Work fills the container you give it. As we enter New England’s jewel of a spring/summer season, I’m reminding myself of this, so I intentionally carve out time from the work to go outside and live my big, fun life too.

I got to chat with some fabulous founders and investors at this week. In this interview, I asked Elizabeth McWhorter about what she’s excited to see with AI and startups in the next few months.

We just ran an analysis of all of the Fluency Scores processed in August. Only 9% of the companies measured were working on the riskiest assumption in their business model.

NINE PERCENT.

The path to entrepreneurial success isn't linear. It's chaotic and full of dead ends. Speed and focus are critical to navigate the uncertainties and to build a business model that works and creates value. Founders need to build a business model that works before they run out of time, money, resources, and enthusiasm.

As entrepreneurial support organizations, investors, and ecosystem builders, we have an enormous opportunity to influence the outcomes of the companies we support by helping them focus on the highest impact, highest return activities. This is low-hanging fruit with BIG potential for better outcomes.
