We’re preparing our 7th annual edition, connecting holiday shoppers with Black-owned businesses, thoughtful gifts, unique experiences, and places to discover throughout Massachusetts and beyond.

We’re inviting businesses, brands, attractions, destinations, and organizations to advertise in this year’s digital Guide.

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Mass Black Expo!

Today, the Black Owned Bos. team joined businesses, entrepreneurs and organizations from across Massachusetts for a full day of connection and learning at the Mass Black Expo, hosted by the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA) Black Economic Council of MA

We loved connecting with so many of you and sharing more about our work, the Black Owned Bos. ecosystem, from our statewide business directory and Guide to Boston to Bos. Shop South End, corporate gifting, marketplaces and more.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shopped with us, picked up a Guide, entered our booth giveaway or simply came over to learn more about what we do. We even had a special visit from Mayor Michelle Wu 吳弭 Mayor Michelle Wu, who stopped by to connect with businesses in the exhibitor hall.

If you entered our booth giveaway, stay tuned! We’ll be selecting a winner and contacting them this week with details on their prize.

We’re leaving MBE energized by the conversations, connections and opportunities ahead.

Small businesses still feel your support, even when you can’t show up in person.

Sunday’s (9/27) Seaport x Black Owned Bos. Market is canceled due to the nor’easter expected to impact the region this weekend.

We never make this decision lightly. Weather cancellations have a real impact on small businesses that have already invested in inventory, staffing, preparation, and transportation for the day.

If you planned to shop with us Sunday, we hope you’ll still support a small business this weekend.

Holiday shopping season will be here before we know it, and opportunities are now open for the 7th annual Black Owned Bos. Holiday Gift Guide.

If you’re a local Black-owned business, there are a few ways to get involved this season:

Submit a giftable product for consideration in the guide.

Invest in advertising to put your business, brand, or holiday offerings directly in front of shoppers looking to buy local this season.

We’re also welcoming partners and sponsors interested in supporting local discovery during one of the biggest shopping seasons of the year.

The Community Table at the Seaport x Black Owned Bos. Outdoor Market has quickly become a crowd favorite.

This free, rotating hands-on activity space brings people together through creativity, community and connection. Throughout the season, we’ve played games, made our own fans and even picked up a paintbrush for an artist-led watercolor session, with each activity inspired by the theme of the month. Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 27 and join us for our next market, Rooted in Wellness. We’ll see you in the Seaport!

Labor Day is about honoring the people whose work keeps our communities moving.

Today, we’re thinking about the labor behind small businesses too. The early mornings, late nights, second jobs, deliveries, customer service, bookkeeping, problem-solving, and all the work that happens behind the scenes.

To the entrepreneurs, employees, makers, service providers, and teams building businesses and creating opportunity in our communities, we see the work.

Looking at these smiles, it’s hard to believe how much it downpoured on Sunday.

But we didn’t let a little rain stop us!

Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came out for the Seaport x Black Owned Bos. Outdoor Market. We appreciate every person who showed up with umbrellas and rain boots, ready to shop, discover new businesses, and support our local Black-owned business community.

And a special thank you to all of the participating businesses, artists, and creatives who showed up, set up, and made the day happen right alongside us.

The sun eventually decided to join us, but the support was there rain or shine.

For those who understandably couldn’t make it out, you can still support and discover the amazing business owners and creatives who participated. All participating businesses are tagged here and linked on our website.

It’s Market Day!

We’re bringing Art & Soul to the Seaport today in celebration of Black Business Month.

Join us from 12–6 PM on Harbor Way for an afternoon of shopping, art, music, food, drinks, and family-friendly fun.

Along with a curated lineup of Black-owned businesses, today’s market will feature a live art demonstration by Jason Talbot of Artists For Humanity, bookmark making with Maya Alia of AIRI, Suya Joint food truck & Tasty Shay's SoulFood Food Sunday, face painting, and a visit from our friends at Bookish Black Boston hosting a pop-up nearby.

Come early. The first 150 guests will receive a complimentary copy of the Black Owned Bos. Guide to Boston, a $12 value, courtesy of Airbnb, The Boston Foundation, and the Office of Mayor Michelle Wu.
