The inaugural Black Owned Bos. Guide to Boston is officially live.

Created to help more people discover, visit, share, and support Black-owned businesses across Boston, the guide highlights restaurants, retail shops, wellness spaces, cultural institutions, artists, local experiences, and the people shaping the city.

It is a curated resource, and it is also a larger statement about visibility, access, storytelling, and economic opportunity.

As we celebrate this launch, we are also excited to share that Black Owned Bos. was selected as an American Express Shop Small® $20K Grant recipient.

This support is helping us continue to build tools, experiences, and platforms that make it easier for people to find and support small businesses in meaningful ways.

Thank you to American Express and Main Street America. This grant is more than funding. It is an investment in our ability to grow, innovate, and continue showing up for our community with intention and impact.

We are proud to be part of this initiative and to join a network of more than 500 small businesses across the country receiving support to keep moving forward.

The guide, the grant, and the continued growth of this platform all point back to the same mission: making sure Black-owned businesses are not only seen, but supported, visited, invested in, and included in how people experience this city.

Thank you to our Official Guide Partners, Founding Guide Patrons, featured businesses, creatives, community partners, and everyone who continues to believe in this work.

The digital guide is live now. Pre-orders available for the physical guide.

Read it. Share it. Use it. Visit the businesses. Bring someone with you.

Wishing you a meaningful Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

“The problem of racial injustice and the problem of economic injustice cannot be solved without a radical redistribution of political and economic power.”

We can honor Dr. King by staying committed to both, not just in what we say, but in what we build, fund, and prioritize.

Economic justice shows up in real, tangible ways:
Who gets hired.
Who gets the contract.
Who gets the shelf space.
Who gets the opportunity.

Today is not a day off. Today is a step forward.

Today, take one step that shifts power. Support a Black-owned business. Make an introduction. Review who you source from. Advocate for equitable investment and access in your workplace and community.

Small decisions add up. Let’s move with intention.
