Did you know?

Massachusetts is home to the third-largest Haitian population in the United States.

Today, Haiti 🇭🇹 and Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 kick off the games at Boston Stadium, and we’re spotlighting Gourmet Kreyol, a crowd favorite featured in the inaugural Black Owned Bos. Guide to Boston.

What started as a food truck has grown into a physical location on Blue Hill Ave, serving bold, flavorful Haitian food with catering options available too.

From game day meals to everyday favorites, Gourmet Kreyol is one to know. Follow the flamingo 🦩

Have you heard of the Verizon Small Business Digital Ready Grant?

The Verizon Small Business Digital Ready Grant is part of Verizon’s commitment to equip one million small businesses with the tools and resources they need to thrive in today’s digital economy.

In partnership with LISC, Verizon will select 10 small businesses each month from June through December 2026 to receive $10,000 grants.

Black Owned Bos. has already had one entrepreneur share that they were encouraged to apply after seeing content we shared about the program, and they were selected for a grant.

The application is simple, and the free content on the platform is valuable even if you are not selected.

If you’re a small business owner, or an aspiring one, this is worth looking into.

The inaugural Black Owned Bos. Guide to Boston is officially live.

Created to help more people discover, visit, share, and support Black-owned businesses across Boston, the guide highlights restaurants, retail shops, wellness spaces, cultural institutions, artists, local experiences, and the people shaping the city.

It is a curated resource, and it is also a larger statement about visibility, access, storytelling, and economic opportunity.

As we celebrate this launch, we are also excited to share that Black Owned Bos. was selected as an American Express Shop Small® $20K Grant recipient.

This support is helping us continue to build tools, experiences, and platforms that make it easier for people to find and support small businesses in meaningful ways.

Thank you to American Express and Main Street America. This grant is more than funding. It is an investment in our ability to grow, innovate, and continue showing up for our community with intention and impact.

We are proud to be part of this initiative and to join a network of more than 500 small businesses across the country receiving support to keep moving forward.

The guide, the grant, and the continued growth of this platform all point back to the same mission: making sure Black-owned businesses are not only seen, but supported, visited, invested in, and included in how people experience this city.

Thank you to our Official Guide Partners, Founding Guide Patrons, featured businesses, creatives, community partners, and everyone who continues to believe in this work.

The digital guide is live now. Pre-orders available for the physical guide.

Read it. Share it. Use it. Visit the businesses. Bring someone with you.

Market Update ☔️

After continued monitoring of the forecast and the impact on participating businesses, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s Seaport x Black Owned Bos. Outdoor Market.

We know many of you were looking forward to joining us, and we truly appreciate the continued support for the small businesses that make this market possible.

We’re currently exploring rescheduling options and will share updates as soon as they are confirmed.
